Default CS45, how did I do?

I got a SS CS45 with a test fire date of 3/11/04. It came with both original mags and case. The only wear id a little blueing rubbed off of both sides of the safety lever. I paid $475 in a private transaction, so no tax. How did I do? I looks like a great value at that price to me.

That's a good deal on a later production CS45.

You done good, real good.
I passed on a $550 CS45 earlier this year that another forum member was happy to jump on. $475 would have easily cinched the deal for me. Good shooting to you and your new .45.

Thanks for the positive replies. Now for the other 1/2 of this dead, I had to sell my Kahr P9 with 4 mags Foxx holster (Trapp) and kydex mag carrier. I basically made a trade, but Kahr was sold to one person and I used the money for the CS45. Would you have done this?

I would have made that trade without hesitation....I have used a Kahr P9 and while it is a nice weapon ....it isn't a CS45........and they are still making P9's

Ha! Two CS-45 questions on the same day!

CS45 questions

You did well. CS-45s are great guns and, while I wouldn't denigrate a Kahr, the CS-45 is superior. Well done!

Thanks for making me feel a little better about my "trade". Now I have a question about the safety, I'm a die hard believer in NO SAFETY on a carry gun. I can/will carry with the safety off, but is there a way to make the safety a decocker only?

You did well although I wouldn't have taken the deal since I prefer blued or nickel.

There came a point, years ago, when I decided I wouldn't buy guns I didn't want.

I knew there would be a don't mess with it crowd, while I respect your choice for your guns, if there is a proven mod to do this without destroying any factory parts, I would change my gun. Yes I am aware of legal risk, but I don't think it would be an issue in my neck of the woods. BTW I've also messed with Glock "Perfection"

Well, if you do want to mod it, call the S&W Performance Center.
That way if they do it, it still maintains the Lifetime Warranty,
and you won't loose any cash over it if you ever decide to sell...

Not sure if the LW is still maintained thru multiple owners like some companies do...
but the PC can do things better than most ever dreamed, and have the spare parts to do it.

I will more than likely just keep in the habit of decocking and flipping the safety back the the fire position. IMO the DA trigger is enough of a safety.

There are some detailed videos on third generation disassembly and reassembly on You Tube. If I recall correctly, they are done by a member of this forum.

I'll leave the don't mess with it crowd alone, basically because I agree with them, but that's not my issue. I'm curious why the safety feature matters to you. You NEVER have to use it, you'll never use it by accident, why would you mess with it for no reason other than because you can?

Sounds like a solution to me. I've carried a 6906 with the safety off for 20 + years. Some folks will argue that the safety will save you if someone snatches your gun. Since I don't/ won't open carry, I'll chance it. Joe

I'll use it as a decocker, if I need to decock, I would like the safety to go to the fire position in case I need to fire again and get caught with the safety on. I know the chances are slim to none, but better safe than sorry.
