Hey!
My brother has a nice 39-2 nickel. Problem is it was fired and put away after using surplus ball that was corrosive. The inside now looks dark and furry.

I found a decent 59 barrel used for $90. These barrels are the same right?
Looks exactly like his 39 barrel?

The S&W parts list shows the same part numbers (06959) for the barrel in both models. You could call S&W Customer Service to double check compatibility.

Did he give the original barrel a good cleaning? I wouldn't give up on it until cleaned and shot again. Last weekend I was shooting a Gew 98 Mauser rifle made in 1915 with a dark barrel and getting three inch groups at 100 yards with the issue sights.

Clean it and shoot it before spending money that you may not have to...results MAY surprise you!
