622 VR in Cabelas
I don't work for Cabelas, nor have any financial interest in this pistol, but I saw a 622 VR in the case at our local Cabelas. I asked to handle it and it is beautiful. Damn shame the original box is no longer with it. Other than some light powder residue in the chamber and barrel I don't think I spotted a single flaw. To be fair, I didn't look as closely as I would have if I was about to lay down cash to take it home, but I fondled it for several minutes with a bore light and noticed nothing wrong. I did not take the slide off to look at the back of the firing pin, but I would expect it to show very little wear.
They're asking $399. Given the excellent condition, a bargain I think if the original box were with it. The problem I have with this would be figuring out what a collector grade rare pistol is worth without the box. If bought for a shooter I think that's a fair price, but it's in really nice shape for a shooter.
I have one with the box and not interested myself, so I thought I'd pass this along. I know there are quite a few that would like to have one of these. Call Cabelas Louisville if interested.
What's anybody else think this might be worth?

Slidemuzik, I know you're very familiar with this model, from your previous posts on here. Is the one for sale a 4.5" or 6" barrel? Does it have the wood grips or the plastic ones? If it is in the condition you describe, it seems like an excellent shooter candidate and well-priced. If it were pristine with all the bells and whistles, as we know it could be a $600 gun.

Virgil this has the black plastic grips with adjustable sights. I don't think I have come across a 622 VR with the wood grips from the factory, although I have been told some were sent out that way. I absolutely agree that this would be a $600+ pistol with the original box. I can't imagine anyone not being thrilled with the condition this VR is in. I haven't seen many this nice. This came from an estate sale according to the guy behind the counter. Apparently he had a nice collection. This must have been a safe queen, which further makes me wonder what happened to the original box.

I think someone done snatched it up. I don't see it on their site. I just left a message with the Librarian.
I'll come back and let y'all know if it's been adopted.

Wow.
It's just amazing how information can travel nearly as fast as the
speed of light, and pistols can disappear just as swiftly!
I do hope there'll be some pictures soon!

Looks like Vigil617 is playing this one close to the vest...still, I have my suspicions!

It never dawned on me that these pistols fell into the 3rd Gen bracket. I just picked up a 2214 today from a pawn shop for $220. The finish isn't real good but it is mechanically sound, a little wear on the firing pin. I am going to pick up a threaded barrel nut from EWK and will get one of their firing pins while I am at it. I will probably refinish it with ceracote.

622 VR has arrived, and is in beautiful condition. Pics to follow when I can take some that will do it justice!

Excellent news. It sounded like you bought it largely on my description and I suddenly found myself feeling very responsible for your satisfaction. I was praying I didn't miss anything. Looking forward to seeing it in photos. Congrats.

No firing pin in it, but what the heck.

That's bizarre that there's no firing pin.
Apparently the folks at Cabelas don't clean and test-fire the used firearms they sell. I thought that was a given, when dealing in used firearms.

Yes, I was kidding!!!!!
Sorry for any misunderstandings in my attempt to be humorous.
Cabela's in Louisville was great to work with, and I have no complaints at all about the pistol (except that I haven't had a chance to get it to the range yet, but that's on me!)
Thanks again, Slidemuzik!!!

Whew. I was racking my brain thinking.... I know I looked at the front of the pin even though I didn't take the slide off. Did I dream that? He did use a winking smiley.... I hope he's kidding.
I'm really happy I spotted that in the case and helped find it an appreciative owner.
