Default New production Model 41

Well, my old Mark 2 has served me well since the mid eighties. Time for an upgrade for 2700 season here in Maine. This one is brand new from Houlton. Personally I feel the fit and finish is great on these guns. Complete with warrantee.

Nice pistol. I was looking at a few of them at the SWCA convention...most were older than dirt though My wife and I shoot a Ruger MarkIII 22/45 HB.e.
I have also been thinking about a SW addition to the .22LR targets for the safe and the range.

Nice pair of pistols there! My 41 was made in 2007 and I've been very happy with the build quality.

Well, after reading about some of the horror shows of FTF and FTE issues with some 41's, I gave the gun a good cleaning and brought it to the range and burned up 100 rounds of CCI SV. No issues whatsoever. This pic is of the first 10 rounds I moved the sight up one click on the 10th round. This was rested at 50 feet. The gun is going to take some getting used to, but I like the feel.

Schmeg,

its hard to tell in the photos - is that a matte finish?

I have a 2005 version, never regretted it. And the CCI SV is the way to go, if you can get it.

Lately I had to substitute Aguilar Target and Target Match, works OK and hits where the CCI did.

It is a mat finish. The gun is roll marked vs. the laser etching Smith used to use on the gun. Fit and finish is quite good. It's just not a mirror finish like the old ones. 200 rounds so far. Totally 100 percent reliable with CCI standard and Blazer.

This gun is a Houlton Maine gun. My LGS informed me today that S&W rolled back M41 production from Houlton earlier this year. I remember reading in the local paper something about it. I guess it explains why other LGS's around the area can't get a straight answer from Smith on when they are going to make more. I got lucky and snapped this one up that was sitting on the shelf for a while. Yes, the finish isn't as shiny as the old ones. But the fitment of all the parts is very good. I guess the dull trigger guard don't bother me. I didn't buy the gun to lock in the safe or show my friends, I bought it to run 2700's with. It will get the **** used out of it.

Smile I'm happy.

Yep, my previous model 41 was a 1980's vintage, and it had a higher polished frame and trigger guard, but my current 2007 production model 41 has every bit as good of a trigger pull on it, and accuracy and function is also equal. I'm completely satisfied with mine!
