Default Model 41 Gap - Normal?

While reassembling my Model 41 I noticed that there is a gap up front between the barrel and lower section. The sections go together fairly tight but the upper section separates about 1/16" after the trigger guard is put in place. I've looked at a number of pictures of other guns online and see the same gap so it's probably normal. But why does the gun go together like this? It seems rather sloppy for an otherwise nice looking gun.

Are you talking about the gap between the bbl extention and slide? Suggest you provide some pictures for us. Later production has tended to have more gap variation than older units.

The first picture below shows the gap or lack of one before the trigger is set in place. The second one shows the gap after everything is put back together. The gap is formed or barrel moves forward when the trigger guard latches.

Gap is normal, has no bearing on life as we know it.

Somewhat good to hear that the gap is normal but also a little disappointed that there isn't any adjustment in the latching mechanism to close the gap a little. I still think it's a fine looking gun though.
