1911PC "Briley" bushing?
Hey guys I'm brand new to the forum and I have a quick question. I just purchased a 1911PC bobtail carry model. I noticed that my "Briley" barrel bushing is not stamped with the Briley logo. Is it only stamped on the 5" model?

You probably have checked but just in case, have you field-stripped the gun to see if it really has a Briley bushing?

I really don't think it matters.
Maybe they gave the stamping machine a rest.

There are several of the Performance Center pistols, both 3rd Gen and 1911 that use the Briley Bushing. I have never seen any of those bushings that are marked with the Briley logo.

Mine is the 5" version.
Every photo I've seen of either version on the Internet or in magazines shows the Briley name on the barrel bushing. That's why I questioned if your gun actually has that bushing.

Nice! Looks great with the wood. I believe only the 5" model is stamped.

So what's the scoop with this bushing? It's a clever design. Does it help a lot, or is it a slight improvement?

I've only put 100 rounds through mine. It's very accurate but I really can't notice a difference between my 4.25" 1911PC that has the bushing and my 5" 1911PD (no Briley bushing) that I bought in 2009.

Briley bushings have been around since the early 90's and used in many Smith PC guns. The Smiths with the lighting slots in the slide are the first Smith 1911 guns that I have seen use the Briley 1911 style bushing.
The PC guns used a housing that was threaded in the frame, Spherical bushing installed in the housing, barrel then installed in the slide.

That depends on how good you are to begin with.
