Just won a New old stock in the box 6946
For the TL/DR crowd: Just won a brand new in the box (New Old Stock) 6946 on Gunbroker for $530!
For those who like a good story:
First I came across the 3913 in the pawn shop deal, then saw the 6906's on iAMMO and decided that I had to have one. Really like the way that the 6906 fells in the hand with the full size magazines and extension, and it shoots great - but the trigger isn't the greatest. DA feels like an exercise machine and SA has lots of takeup.
On a business trip to Idaho I stopped in a gunstore there and handled a FRPD trade in 6946. The DAO trigger was awesome! I have been following them on Gunbroker ever since, and placed a bid on this one at $360 with a high bid of $550 and got it!
An excellent all metal 3rd Gen Smith, New in the box with the inspection stickers on it for less than a plastic Block!
Has an engraved number on the side, so it looks like an unissued LE gun. Cannot wait to add it to the collection.

Nice grab JeepinSoldier!! There's nothing quite like opening up the box on a NOS S&W 3rd gen IMO. Smells like... victory.

Nice buy. That gunshop is local to me though I haven't been there in awhile.
Three documented 3 inch 13-2 FBI revolvers came out of that shop, they ALL now reside with a forum member.

Good to see that went to somebody who is going to appreciate it. I put in a low ball bid early on knowing that It would go much higher (but hoping I was wrong!). Congrats on a great gun!

I paid for the 6946 today and the gentleman that I spoke with was extremely courteous and professional. You don't find that much anymore! Does this shop handle a lot of prior law enforcement handguns? I meant to ask if the 6946 was an unissued law enforcement gun and where it came from, but I was pressed for time. I will send him a question on Gunbroker.
I guess I can hijack my own post.
Are these the 3" Model 13's that you are referring to?
Model 13-2 FBI
That forum member owes you big time! I have a nice 3" Model 13, but a pinned and recessed FBI documented 13-2 would be the find of the century. And to get 3!

Jim,
Thank you. I had been watching the 6946's and they average $500. When I saw that I could bid on that gun at around $360 I jumped on it. Could not bid higher than $550 but Im happy to have won it.

Charlie just handles ALOT of guns, ALOT. People travel from 3 hrs away to his store.
YES, those are the 13-2's. I had first dibs on all three(saw them about an hour after they came in to the shop) but gave the info to forum member 29-1(who lives about an hour away from the shop) who promptly purchased them. From what I understand you very rarely run into ONE ex FBI gun no less THREE of em'. They went to the perfect home.

That was very good of you. As the OP's username is 'LadyFed', I assume that they treasure those pieces of history. I would imagine that most of the FBI 13's were destroyed like the 686 CS-1's thanks to the Clinton's and Janet Reno.
I know that I enjoy my Beretta M9 even though its nothing special and nowhere near the same league as a FBI 13. I did however, carry one in combat and it was my issued gun as a 1SG. in the Army.

Good purchase....I have two 6906s but I still wanted a DAO which is in the hands of my grandson and I don't expect it back home. Oh well another one lost. It was a police trade in a batch that I bid and got it for 284 + shipping and FFL fee. I have often wished I had bought two.

Welllllllll, thanks to another forum member - I will be adding a 3953 to the collection as well!
This one (3953) is not pristine in the box with all the goodies buts that's absolutely fine with me. I plan to carry it sometimes and try wear it out on the range!

Sure, just take 'em all! I guess I'll just have to get mine when you're not looking!
