I am interested in a front sight upgrade. I would like to find something that would provide good low light but not compromise brite light view-ability.

Do the "glow" sights work in low light but not that good in brite light?

Is there a sight that performs well in both? What color?

My experience has been that "night sights" only are useful in near dark conditions, so I use either the combo TruGLO TFO sights ( if available for my model pistol), or a fiber optic only front sight. Another option is the XS Big Dot sight, which is quite visible in dim light conditions. Color? I prefer Green ! Finding a sight for your particular model might be a challenge, but something is generally out there.

Before you spend a bunch of bucks on night sights, try a dab of dayglo-orange paint on you sight. It surprised me how well it stands out in low light, but light enough to see what you're aiming at. It's worth the $3-4 to find out. Brightly colored nail polish at the local drug store works well also, is a bit harder than the paint and work best over a white undercoat.

If it doesn't work out, then maybe night sights are for you.

Orange, especially the fluorescent version used in hunter-safety applications, is the last color to stop reflecting light. When I used to grow the gold-orange double marigolds they would seem to glow as it got dark.

Fluorescent orange model paint by Testors is something I've used to help my old eyes. It can be coated with a thin layer of clear nail polish to protect it if you wish.

Good ideas... I have some fluorescent orange acrylic hobby paint for my pistols that have integral front sights, and it works better than nothing, that's for sure.

I did some shopping for paint and found several. Wal Mart has some in the hobby section. I went to a hobby craft store and was looking at the selection. I asked the lady about glow in the dark. She said the Martha Stewart was the best. It was not on the shelf . She pulled some from a bin and I decided to give it a try.

Looks good on the sight now to give it a try
