Question Pensacola rusty 4586

Found one of these at a local Pensacola Cash America pawn shop...
down side is that the rear sight is covered in rust, and has small rust spots all over it...
nothing that couldn't be cleaned off, just enough to be annoying...

Priced at $399...which for a rusty gun, to me, is too much...
think I'll keep an eye on it, if they drop the price by about $100,
it'd probably be worth it, IMHO. What do you guys think??

Also found a 4006 (regular) at another pawn shop...
guys wants $450 for it...
it is in nice condition with the Novak Sights.

Find myself wanting to find more Compact versions though...lol

I would offer $100 less because the rust is a sign of severe neglect. Especially on a pistol made of stainless steel! It may have been submerged in salt water to do the kind of damage you mentioned.

If they drop the price and purchase you can try having it blasted with an abrasive media followed by blasting with glass beads and you might get it back to the factory look. If the blued portions of the front and rear sights are rusted as well you could try refinishing those as well but it would be cheaper and far easier to replace them.

Figuring these costs of "repair" into the price of purchase will help you evaluate whether it is worth the cost and effort.

If you purchase, pleas post before and after photos. :-)

Probably just sat in a cop's holster save for once or twice a year quals. Rear sight is blued carbon steel. Plenty of moisture and rain in FL.. While I carried a blued Sid 220, I wiped that sucker off with protectant at last every other day, and every day in the rains.

I'm going to give it a little time...really need a new gun safe...
one of 'em is getting a bit packed...focus on a replacement first...

Yup, too much for a gun in that condition. Wait it out and see what happens.

Make a reasonable offer and they might take you up on the sale.

For the 4006 try Summitgunbroker they have them for $325 plus $18 shipping or a 4006 TSW for $425.00 + shipping. Three mags, police duty guns .40 S&W. I've dealt with them the shipped fast for me and my Sig P229 looked to be unfired.

Stopped by that Cash America today...someone bought it.
Now we gotta wait and see WhoDunnit

Someone also picked up the 4006 at the Interstate Pawn close by...

Sooner or later they'll find themselves here!
