Bodyguard 380 barrel lug wear - is this normal?
I recently purchased a new Bodyguard 380 - not the M&P version. I've got about 350 rounds through it and noticed this wear on the barrel lug on the (from top down view) right lug. The wear is on the side and on the bottom outside corner. Is this normal for this gun?
Thanks for your thoughts.

That's the hood. The lug is on the bottom.
It's from contact with the slide moving into battery. It will wear off as much as it needs then stop.
I wouldn't worry.

Hi. I bought a new Bodyguard M&P, KFT series. After only about 100 rounds, I found the same wear on the barrel lug and also inside the slide above the extractor.
This old thread is the only information about this Bodyguard wear I have found.
Please tell me if this is really normal wear, as k80clay says, or if it is a weapon defect.
Thank you.

I don't think that it will interfere with the functionality, but I would be unhappy with it. You could check with S&W.

Thank you for answer. I'm seriously frustrated with such wear after only 100 rounds.
Before contacting S&W, I would like to know if other Bodyguard owners have similar wear on the slide and barrel lug.
So I will be happy for your experience.Thanks.

Not sure what is causing your wear. My Bodyguard is 5 years old. Around 800 rounds and no such wear. HOWEVER my hammer strut has excessive wear. It looks like a mini bread knife with all the serrations in it.

That shouldn't be "normal wear" for any gun that's designed and built properly. That looks like a lot of metal missing. I believe a call to S&W is in order.
I'm going to check my niece-in-law's Bodyguard when I see her in a couple of weeks to see if she has the same wear.

I would be contacting S&W to send the barrel back. Way too much metal being moved. Makes me wonder if there was a CNC program error that misspositioned the hood in relation to the barrel feet. S&W may have run a production lot of barrels like that before it was caught.
S&W likely will require the whole gun to come back so they can testfire their fix for the issue.

Thank you very much for your opinions and advices.
Now I noticed the deformation of my Bodyguard's metal frame. Both frame rails are slightly deformed to the left.
Is this a defect?
Do you think this could be related to the described barrel lug wear?

I would say yes. Send it back for them to fix or replace whatever is needed.
