Spring question
Since there seems to be some interest about springs I'll ask this question.
I need a recoil spring for a CS45. Can I use a spring that is made for a different model? Or can anyone recommend a place to purchase one. Midway is out and they aren't doing back orders. Thanks

The CS45 uses a specific flatwire spring, and calling S&W directly would most likely be your best bet. Probably still have to backorder, but that's your best place to backorder from.
If your needs are immediate, you could put up a WTB ad in the Classifieds for one and see in anyone might help you out.
Good luck!

Forum member BMCM worked with ISMI who makes flatwire recoil spring for other makes, was able to find a suitable replacement for the Performance Center Shorty 45's.
The CS45 barrel is 3.25" versus 3.50' in the Shorty 45... that's pretty close.
Bill is very helpful and experienced... some of the work he does on his own guns that he posts is just downright awesome. Send him a PM, see what he says.
S&W has pretty much set the owners of the non poly framed pistols adrift when it comes to parts... they aren't available.

Update---- I finally talked to the right person at the "Mother Ship". He took time to look for them and found at least 2 of them. I had to buy the Spring Assembly. Which consisted of the recoil spring and the guide rod. So they do have some 3rd Gen. parts available.

Cool, glad you found some! My order of 'in-stock' parts from them took a month to get to me, so hopefully yours won't be as long of a wait.

Cool... do you happen to have the name of who did that?
At the risk of inundating the poor fellow, it would be nice to be able to call and ask for someone that is willing to do that kind of thing.
