Now, that's a rare one! I'll sheepishly have to admit it... I had to look up the number.

Luckily I've never run across one of those. I say luckily, because it's a 3rd Gen, in my favorite flavor(45ACP), so I would have to have one! Congrats on the score!

I didn't even know the existed until about a month ago!
Now I "need" 4506 and 4513/16 to fill out the .45's, then I start on the 9mms.
Boy I love the two tone look.

That's a nice one. I was tempted but just got a cherry 4566 from a forum member. Always wanted a 3rd Gen semiauto just couldn't decide which one until I saw it. Love it.

Very cool to have one of the rarest of the rare! I am envious!!!
I'm up to seven 3rd Gens as we speak. Yes, I am fully, hopelessly addicted at this point!!! Thought I would make ten by year's end but financial realities are probably going to limit me to no more than nine.
So three months and two choices left. What will they be? Hopefully a 4506-1 and a 3913... but in this crazy restricted state, you take what you can get your hands on that's still in good shape!

I'm only on two in four months being the slacker that I am.

Yep, seven 3rd Gens in three months. I've got the addiction bad.
Actually, there were good reasons for the intense, hurry-up approach having to do with the restrictive moonbat state I live in. My collecting is going to slow down a whole lot as winter approaches. Gotta heat the house ya know. The addiction will have to take a back seat to heating oil and electricity.

The OCD part of me really likes the model number, it has a certain "rightness" to it.
Doesn't everyone arrange their 3rd gens in numerical model number order left to right in the safe?, with the older ones within the model to the left (older 39 before newer 39, then 39-2, then 40xx, 45xx, 59xx )? CS-xx goes to the way right.
Okay, I'm off to re-alphabetize my spices. Back next week....

Not to mix threads here, but since you started both:
You know you're a Third Gen Fan Boy when you obtain a "straight" in four-card S&W poker.
Nice pistol, Graham. Look forward to shooting it with you sometime soon.
I'd say this young fellow has already established himself on our esteemed Forum, wouldn't the rest of you? He is obviously a connoisseur of those that we all enjoy, so I guess we need to give him the password and secret handshake.

That's nice. Is this the model that originally shipped with blue grips?

Thanks for the kind words guys! (Your not helping my ego. )
The Shorty was pure beginners luck, and this one as well as the addiction is all thanks y'all. This forum is like a family and a very welcoming one as well!
GaryS, I believe so since it has night sights, but not sure.

That pic makes me tempted to put the slide from my "new" blued 3914LS onto my 3913 frame.

At first they did come with the blue grip though I'm not sure at what point the switch was made. The one nib I bought in early '92 had the blue grip though a good friend bought another nib a month or so after mine and it's grip was black. The others that were marked "Performance Center" on the slide, product code 170129, also had the black grip.

Ran out back on put 30rds through it through it. 14 two handed, 8 right hand only and 8 left hand only at 7 yards.
Boy, this thing makes me look good!
Here's the target...if it loaded, Google Crome has crashed three times on me when trying to upload...

Nice! The best part being "Ran out back..."
I'd love to live somewhere where I could walk off my back porch and shoot.
Someday.

It's not much of a range, just a few logs that aren't good to burn, but perfect for this type of thing!
Vigil, I did those three using a mirror over my back.

Nice find! You don't see those come up for sale very often either. I need to start paying attention to the classifieds more often.

It came with Hogue rubber grips and I'm trying it out with them, not to sure if they'll stay though.
Those of you with a midsize or full sized .45, do you prefer the stock grips or the Hogue's? The slimness of the stock ones would seem to be better for CC, just wondering.
BTW: I didn't think it would work, but tried switching slide with my Shorty, sadly it didn't work...guess thats another reason to get a 4516/13 or 457!

I personally prefer the Hogues to the factory grips on all my 3rd Gens except on my 4006. Even with my fairly long fingers I find it feels like I'm holding a rounded off 2x4 instead of a pistol grip. . That said, I still haven't taken them off yet.

With the 45's, I like the extra thickness of the Hogues in hand, but prefer the Delrin grips for carry. They're slimmer and don't catch on my clothing like the Hogues sometimes will. I've considered applying some polyurethane to the Hogues to eliminate the 'stickiness,' but haven't got past thinking about it yet.
Congrats on your new 4567 Shorty, and nice shooting! Being a city slicker, I'm also pretty jealous of your backyard range.

Personally I prefer the Hogues on my 4506. It just feels right compared to the delrin grips.

A bit of an update.
My Father and I got our schedules to work and we both went shooting together and he shoot my 4567...might have a new convert to 3rd gens. My Dad is a bit of a 9mm CZ guy and has been thinking about getting something slimmer than his PO-1 for summer carry, so I suggested the 3913/14 or 908 since he likes the size of my Shorty (he's not crazy about a compact .45 for carry though.) in 9mm, so we'll see.
We had one hangup and I think it's a weak magazine spring on a yellow follower magazine.
