They're popping up everywhere.
So last week I finally picked up the 3913 my LGS was holding for me. So looking through some local forums what do I find..not one but two 3913's . Why does that always seem to happen? I find a nice 3rd Gen and within days there's another one. Why are they torturing me like this?
I know I should be satisfied with find one but the darn things are like Lay's Potato Chips..

It does seem to happen that way doesn't it. Well you can always get another one. Well maybe, but hey congratulations on your acquisition.

God gave you 2 hands....... fill them.....
LOL
Edit: Nothing wrong with a "backup" or a backup to your "backup".......LOL
I've carried a 3913/14 since about 1990 and have acquired several backups (used) over the years..... while not intended as investments..... most could be sold at 2-3X what I paid for them

Everyone loves the 3913's. Almost everyone that has sold one wishes they had it back.

And I had to "settle" for a 908, cause just like they seem to come in flocks at a time, there are also times when there simply aren't any to be had....and the urge to own one had to be satisfied.

Congrats!
Saw a LNIB one for sale on a local forum listed a 9mm S&W, it went for...the grand total of $350! I missed it by seven stinking minutes. oh well.
Almost forgot...We like photos!

Have definitely noticed this trend with 3rd Gens as well. I bought a CS9 this spring because I hadn't seen any, then afterwards a whole slew of them started popping up - at better prices!! I just had to keep telling myself to be happy with the one I have....

I'm still looking for a 3rd gen 39.
I got to fondle 3 sweet 3rd gens at the LGS the other day.
One was a 4026, one was a 4566, and one was a 4586 (the one I want).
They also have a 5904 that I didn't get to see.

If 3913's or CS9's (or for that matter 908's) were popping up all over the place around here I would get a loan from the bank if need be to get them. 3rd Gen Smiths are as rare as hens teeth out here and the single stacks especially so. I have seen [I]one[I] 39 series in the last ten years in a LGS/Pawn shop.

I can confirm that the 3913TSW mags work, and congrats on your new CS9! I was watching that auction, and it looks like you'll have yourself a fine pistol, Brent636. Not a bad price, either.

Thanks for the confirmation. I managed to get both my 4513TSW and CS45 for under $400 each, so the average price of these 3 3d gens will be $395. I guess I'd pay that all day long for these fine pistols ..

A VG condition 3953 with box and docs just popped up on my local site for $425. Deal or no deal? Is that the compact version of the 3913?

Triathlon coach,
3953 is the double action only version of the 3913. It has no external safety. They are essentially the same size, both compact.

So here it goes again! Yesterday saw a 5906TSW (w/o rail) for $450. Gone before I even had a shot. Today there is a 4506-1 for $450 and a 4513 TSW pre-rail for $700 ( probably high).

I made the mistake of not grabbing a 3953 when CDNN was selling them for ~$325 a few years ago. Duh! I got a Model 65 instead.
