Default New Performance Center 1911

Arrived at my LGS today, an early Birthday gift to myself, had an E-series and traded it and felt a part of me missing, anyway curious to see how this stacks up, was 1230 shipped plus 25 transfer fee, think i got a good deal, anyone try this or its little brother?

I've got one just like it and it cycles factory ammo and my reloads flawlessly. Mine has a very nice barrel/slide/frame fit and is a nice shooter. I've been thinking about installing some VZ grips, but haven't yet decided on which design to order. Happy shooting...

I have the same gun. My taste runs to the conservative side so I went with some nicely figured wood grip panels.

Mine is very accurate with my handloads and a joy to shoot overall. My only gripe was an extremely tight fit of the Briley bushing in the barrel bushing to the slide and barrel. I used some scope ring lapping compound to make disassembly and reassembly a lot easier and the gun's accuracy remained the same.

The only change I made aside from the grip panels was to remove the black coating from the barrel hood as it was becoming scuffed by the slide and didn't look attractive like that. I used 600-grit emery cloth to remove the coating followed by 2200-grit to polish the surface. With the black in the caliber marking, I think it looks a lot better.

I just bought the exact same gun last weekend. I paid about $100 more plus tax at the LGS who has the best prices in the area so I'd say you got a good deal. I think the blue grips look great on stainless so I'm keeping them on for now. I have a couple of issues but won't hijack your thread and start my own. Best of luck and enjoy.

I have the little brother. I didn't like the orange gagger grips, so swapped to Davidson's Horny Lizards...

Initially I drenched it in oil and used compressed air to force the oil in and blow out the excess. That smoothed things out. But I decided to take it apart and polish all of the moving parts. It's not binding now but the return action is too light so it still needs some work. Disappointing out of the box functionality seeing as how these things were hand fit by experienced S&W builders. I don't see how this sort of thing wasn't identified before putting it in a box.

I have the "little brother".. (the round butt). I hated the original grips so I fitted some other custom grips. It kicks pretty good from the lower weight scandium frame. Very accurate. Only one problem with it so far. The small cam that is part of the magazine release broke after about 300 rounds.... Darm Mim parts. Wife was shooting it and then taps me on the shoulder saying something is wrong.... Magazine is laying on the floor and part of the mag release is on the bench.

Nice pistol, have one myself but so far it hasn't hit the range yet as I been breaking in a Les Baer. You did OK on the price. Last month I noticed a dealer on gunbrokers had them listed for $1,150 with no reserve but I never followed the auction through to see what the final price was.

Did you get a bushing tool with your PC1911?

I just sold my Ruger SR1911 and its tool went with it so now I need one. I didn't get one in the tupperware for my PC1911. If I don't get one from S&W is any old tool good enough or is there a tool that doubles as something useful for other things?

Any 1911 bushing tool will work. I leave my factory 1911 bushing tools in the guns' boxes and use a PCT (Plug Capture Tool) wrench on all of them. The bushing holes are rotated 90 degrees in those tools so the plug is behind the tool's body when the bushing releases it.

I saw those. I like the wider area to keep the spring from ejecting. Don't know why they all aren't like that. Thanks.

I own one of its "little" brothers. I tend to like the all-black guns. I like the feel of the standard stocks, but I'm mulling over a set of micartas. Gun has been flawless. That's a lot of gun for the money.
