Default HELP ME S&W 3913 Sights

A few weeks back weeks back I acquired a S&W 3913 in a trade. Previous owner was a police officer and used to be a personal daily carry before his issued gun. I've been shooting it but I've noticed it's shooting left of where I aim.

Does anyone know how to adjust the sights on it? Or if there are any tridium night sights out there for it?

Thanks for any help you offer.

There is a very good deal on Ebay for night sights for the 3913. Search "Trijicon SA24".

You have to use a sight pusher or punch to drift the rear sight for adjustment.

You'd want to tap the rear sight to the right with a drift (as jsbethel suggests) to make up for shooting left.

If you're going to put night sights on I strongly recommend a sight pusher, too. You don't want to tap on the tritium vials and break them.

I strongly second getting those Trijicon SA24's off of eBay - it's a deal of epic proportions. I'm considering getting a spare set just in case I wind up with another gun for them.

And personally, I've used a brass rod with a shaped end to install many 3rd gen night sights without any broken vials. Slide in a vise with leather scraps on the side, and controlled, light-med taps with a smaller hammer (I use a 12oz). I'll usually try using a spare wood block first to see if that will move things, but normally have to go with the hammer.

In the past, I foolishly used more force with the hammer and less controlled/higher volume of strikes to install some night sights and still did not damage the vials, so I believe the Trijicons are built pretty tough.

I agree, I put my last set on with this punch with a flattened end.

I just never know what the skill/expereince level of a person on line is, so I error on the side of caution.

You have a good point D rock, it's always good to be cautious. My instinct is to go the DIY route with things, but there's always the understanding that I may screw the sights up and have to buy another.

Forum member epj makes and sells an inexpensive sight pusher in the Accessories For Sale section of the classifieds as well. I had one and it worked just fine on normal Novak 3rd gen sights, then I broke it on a Value Line 910 front sight install. Those have thin, wide dovetails and are very difficult to install, especially without taking any material off the base of the sight.

You could always have someone else do the install as well - S&W, Trijicon, local gunsmith.
