I have a 9mm Shield with a Crimson Trace LG-489G laser. Looking for a "bedside" holster that will fit between mattress & box spring. Looked at the Blackhawk #40BH00BK recommended by their rep, but too many online reviews say it falls out from between the mattress/box spring too often. Others (e.g.DeSantis) requires an additional holster for the part fitting between mattress/springs. I don't mind paying for a quality set that works! Anyone have a set up that they like? Thanks in advance!

I have two questions. First, why do you want one that fits between the mattress and box springs? Second, why do you want a bedside holster, period? And I'm not being a smart aleck here, either, okay?

Just for the record, I have bedside guns (yes, plural). I don't keep any of them in a holster of any sort. Far as I'm concerned, it just takes an extra movement and perhaps an extra second or two to get a gun out of a holster and bring it into play...especially if you're groggy from sleep.

Unless you have small children that might wander into the bedroom at night and possibly access the gun, why not just lay it on a bedside table? Or if your bed isn't too high off the floor, why not just lay it on the floor next to the bed?

I'm just thinking the less time and motion needed to bring the weapon into play, the better.

I sleep with my ole 45 but for some unseen reason I would need a gun in the middle of the night, it would be my 12 gauge.

I will either just lay it on a bedside table or get a 12 gauge Remington 870. Thanks again to all who responded!

Another option to think of, what I do is use 3 magnets that I bought from home depot and these are on the bed frame covered with a small piece of duct tape. These hold the gun firmly in place and the bed dust cover keeps it out of view. The magnets are neodymium and are really strong.

I keep my bedside gun on a silicone potholder pad on the shelf by the bed, with the night sights facing me for quick acquisition. The silicone potholder provides good friction to hold the gun on the shelf and save the woodwork. A cut down 20 ga M500 is in the closet, so I don't have to go far for it either. No wandering kids .

My own rule is that any loaded gun belongs in a holster. Around the bedroom I tend to use cheap Uncle Mike's holster that are made from some soft fabric. If the gun doesn't fit perfectly you can tailor the fit with some safety pins. Because of the design, guns can be withdrawn silently with no hangups. These holsters are worthless for carry but well suited for bedroom work while the leather carry holster dries out overnight.

I have the blackhawk holster. It works fine with my mp 45

I keep mine in the drawer of my bedside table. Opening the drawer will force additional movement to assure I am totally awake. The M&P has a weapons light attached and there is an additional magazine and flashlight keeping it company.

Surprised no one mentioned it, but there are a couple of holster options that are exactly what the OP described. The first option would be to use a Wilderness Safepacker, which is really a gun case that you can use the flap to tuck between the mattress and boxspring.

I keep my 4513TSW in a cheap gun case lying on an inverted plastic crate by the bed. That way I reach down to get it, rather than trying to reach up to a crowded bedside table. We also have an excellent alarm system and a very territorial black lab.

Micro fiber cloth folded around it to keep dust off and placed in the top drawer of my nightstand. Plenty close enough and plenty easy to get to but the extra action assures being fully awake.

I have an Uncle Mikes paddle holster...
You can unscrew the holster from the paddle and mount it anywhere you want.
