Can this pittings be fix?
I saw this at Gunbroker, and Im wondering, what would it cost or is it even something that can be fix?
Bid started at $250.00, and no one is making any bids since I saw it two days ago.
And just to add, in my case, being from Komiefornia, I still need to pay $120. to an ffl who will do SSE.

Probably could be made better but not 100%. And if it was it's probably not worth it

It's probably being resold by the last person who brought it thinking he could economically afford to fix it.

Probably. Looks like someone already sanded the slide a bit.

If you can get it cheap enough then don't worry about the cosmetic flaws, because it would make a great little carry gun.

Yeah, that pitting looks pretty deep. I doubt there is much that can be done to help. Normal wear and tear scratches on 3rd gens can be lessened or eliminated with Mother's Mag Polish or Flitz but what we see on that gun is pretty serious. I can't read the model number in the pic but I'm not sure I'd want it even for $250. But, I have to add, I'm pretty picky when it comes to cosmetic flaws. I tend to believe that a nasty looking gun has probably had some nasty treatment.

Yeah, I've been goggling about pitting fixes last night, and so far, the only possible cheap fix is kinda like what can be done on cars, bondo or JB weld. One even says using tig weld(?), but the process seems like its not for some hobbyist to venture into.

Looks like a CS9? I'd leave it be. For another $150 you could buy the same gun in good to very good shape.
I do however understand the desire to buy cheap fixer-uppers. It's in most of our DNA.

What causes that kind of black pitting on stainless steel?

there are restoration shops and individuals that could make that cs9 look box new......but at what price???...just not economically justifiable unless you have the skill sets to go it alone.....CCR in Tenn. has done some nice restos that I have seen... ...but quality work comes at a price

There looks to be a bigger problem than just pitting.
if that pic is not altered by the seller to blur/hide the s/n for the listing, by the looks of the bright spots on the frame and slide lock, it looks like some sanding has taken place that has affected the model and s/n stamping... not good.
Ask for a closer and clearer pic of that area before you commit. If you can not confirm that the s/n is not absolutely untouched, do not, I repeat, do not buy.

Gunhacker, even if that s/n was eviscerated, under the left hand grip there are two more s/n laser etchings. One is large and the other is micro.

The question then is which one does the BATFE recognize as the one that counts?
On S&W revolvers the s/n is on the crane cut out in the frame and on the bottom of the grip frame, the one on the grip frame is considered the "official" one.
I'm just cautioning that some due diligence needs to be done before buying that gun to keep from possibly ending up with something that's illegal.
I found and looked at the listing on Gunbroker... hard to tell if the seller is an FFL or not. At least if it was coming from an FFL dealer that would make it something that is possibly ok, and not a private seller trying to unload their problem/mistake.
But just by looking at all of the pics.... I myself would pass and question it's condition internally. The pic with the 2 mags, the right one looks to be very discolored, as if it was in the gun when all of the corrosion took place. The degree of pitting on the outside made me think "blood gun" and if it got to the insides and did that to the magazine... well I'd question the condition of the lock work parts.
Many things about that gun don't feel right.

If you think you can live with it, you probably can't.
