Default S&W Government equivalent?

Can anyone tell this J-hound which (if any) S&W 1911 is the equivalent of the service gun (5" bbl, fixed sights, no bells and whistles). If there is such a model, is it worth buying? Thanks in advance.

S&W doesn't make a military equivalent. Theirs are all have more features.

I'm not up to date on all the S&W 1911's but I don't remember even seeing one.

Rock island armory makes a nice no frills Government model that you might want to check out.

There is a company called "Colt" that makes what you want. Someone told me that Colt has some connection with the origination of the design....

The Colt that most resembles the original Government Model is the Series 70 Model 01970A1CS. With your stated specifications, such a gun is definitely worth buying! You will then have an original, not a clone.
