My Chiefs Special family is complete !
I have been working a couple of years to complete my Chief Special set, could have finished sooner with less than NIB condition specimens but kept on track and finished!

Don't you need the two-tone versions to complete the set?
Back to work !

Yes, but only after he gets the carbon steel versions!
And then the DAO versions.

These are really nice. I am into the revolvers but after seeing these Chiefs Special's I may have another theme. What are the different variations of them? Thanks for the help.

Yes Bruce they did make a Two Tone CS40 there isnt one listed for the CS9 or the CS45 someone out there let me know if they have different info , all three models were made in blue which I already have the CS40 looks like Blued was first introduced in 1998 and lasted until 1999 on the 3 CS models, and also there was a CS45D which was DA only!

I believe all 3 calibers has a DAO option, so to complete the set you need 3 stainless TDA, 3 stainless DAO, 3 blued TDA, 3 blued DAO, and a two-tone CS40. This is using skjos' excellent chart in this thread
See how much fun this is ???

Yep, same here. I've bought a CS9 that is essentially LNIB not long after I had purchased a CS40 that was kind of ratty by my standards. Never should have bought the CS40, but too late now.
When a CS45 came up for sale a couple months back that would have completed the set, I told the listing shop that it had to be like new or forget about it. They know me well and they know my standards. Sadly, they said the CS45 they had was never going to pass my inspection.
Condition is everything. Someday, I will own all three... and they will all be in pristine perfect condition!

THE TRIFECTA!!! Very nice indeed. I too have all three. Despite its "snappy" character, my wife likes and shoots the CS40 most accurately of the three. Congrats!

All I have is a stainless CS45. It is my carry gun. I was trained on DA/SA pistols, all of mine are. I fail to see why many of the pistols now being made are DA. I wouldn't have one.

Congratulations on completing your trifecta! I just started on my Chief's Special collection this past weekend with a pickup of a CS40 at a gun show. If I hadn't of let a CS9 get bought out from under me last year, I could have been well on my way to finishing the set!

Very nice. I wouldn't trade my CS45 for anything. It's actually the only .45 ACP that I kept when I dumped my 1911s. I've thought about obtaining other CS models but with my focus on wheelguns I never did it. They were a grand idea from S&W!!!
Bring back 3rd Gen guns, Smith & Wesson!!!!
