I have the same gun and for what it is I like it just fine.

There are some negatives to this gun, that is for certain. It is a pocket carry gun. The trigger leaves plenty to be desired but it is the way it is so that you can safely leave the safety off, place it in a your pocket inside a pocket holster and not have to worry about perforating yourself. Tha sights are great, I do not know of any better for a gun this size. The laser works well enough but to be honest they are just not my thing. The gun appear to eat any ammo and has yet to malfunction.

Overall I really like the bg380 for a pocket gun. That said I would rather have a Ruger lcp with Crimson trace grip to fill the exact same role. I know I did have one until my wife stole it.

You got yourself a great little gun for a steal at the price you paid. Guns this size take aittle getting used to in order to shoot well. Good excuse to head to the range, enjoy.

What's not to like for it's intended purpose. Mine (non laser) has had several hundred rounds through it by a multitude of shooters without a flaw. I could do without the safety and a little fatter slide stop.

Default New Laser Screw for my Bodyguard 380

Just got my BG back from S&W. Second trip back for the laser screw. The first trip was to fix the backed out screw, which jammed the slide/barrel. This trip was to remove the screw. I did not over torque it, but I did check it each time I fired it, to be sure, it was not loose. I guess I over-torqued it, and striped out the head. When I got it back, they had replaced it with the larger Allen Head screw. Instead of the .035 wrench size, I now have the .050. Does not sound like much of a difference, but the larger wrench fits tighter than the old one ever did.

Check the screw after every range trip, to see if it is loose, but do not torque it.

The gun itself has never malfunctioned in the 2.5 years I have owned it. It will shoot anything I feed it, and it is very accurate. I carry it everywhere.

If I found a new one for $280, I would buy it in a heart beat.

actually the bodyguard was on sale then I had a coupon for 25 more off so I ended up paying 280 out the door cause there is no sales tax in my state....but I did have to pay the 10 background check fee so actually the gun itself cost me 270

I too had screw lock the slide on my Insight equipped BG. S&W kept it for 6 weeks but it came back with a Crimson Trace but let's be honest, any laser on a gun made to use at close range self defense is a gimmick. Pocket carry, it's perfect. I don't mind the 10+ pound trigger, I just wish the travel wasn't sooooo looong. Some reviewer stated that the trigger was "suspenseful", I agree. That said, if I need to fire it in defense I won't even notice that!!

I cured my trigger woes by soaking the hammer pivot and main spring with a mix a mix of flitz metal polish with gun oil. Several hundred dry firings latter (Yea, it was a long night in front of the TV) and it improved dramatically. FWIW, I actually like the long and predictable pull on it now.

Had a guy try and sell me one a couple days ago (with laser) for $300 (used).
I laughed and then countered at $225 - he passed.

Default Thumbs Up

I recently purchased the BG380. Have not fired a lot of rounds through it yet, just a couple of trips to the range, but it put the rounds exactly where I wanted them to go, both range ammo and self defense ammo worked well. Lasers are not my thing, so I got the non-laser model. I prefer a safety, especially on a pistol for pocket carry, and the safety on the BG seems to operate fine for me and the safety lever is the perfect size, so it had all the features I wanted. For what I purchased it for, a pocket carry back up, it suits my purposes very well.

Default BG .380

Like most, I like it fine...I have the laser.. Sadly did not buy mine for $280... Not had any problems with it at all.. Would like to change sights maybe.. Mine shoots high and to the right, but not enough to really affect a defensive close encounter. All in all great little back up piece.

I am thinking about buying the non-laser version. I do not like DAO. I can't afford another PPK, which would be my first choice. I checked out the Ruger LCP the other day at a pawn shop, at a really good price, but I like the M&P Bodyguard .380 better. UPDATE: I bought a non-laser BG .380. Have not been to the range yet. My first DAO pistol, dry firing it the trigger is atrocious. Doesn't break until it almost hits the rear of the trigger guard, I am anxious to shoot it. Perfect size for pocket carry, which is why I wanted it in the first place.

See my post here about the light primer strikes. It appears the issue may have been fixed with a new firing pin design:
