What exactly would one be worth? Seller says unfired and such. I love the size of the pistol and just helped my father snag a beautiful 4513 when I stumbled upon the PC4513 online.

Price seems high to me but I don't honestly know the valuation of one of these pistols in that condition. Thanks for the help.

A nice Shorty 45 no box would go for around $700 or $800 around here. Unfired with box would go over $1k quite easily. JMHO.

well that happens to be my one and only on the so named "graiL" gun list....forum member Shorty 45 mk has one and I gave him a standing offer to trade any gun I have for it....and I have some decent 3rd. gens and a couple of Sig 45's that are in the $700+ range...both have 7 Sig mags....which in reality probably bumps them another buck and a half....demand exceeds supply of a gun no longer produced....it comes down to the math...2+2= a starting price at about a grand and goes up from there

How much higher would that take it than $1k?

If it is NIB with all the factory goodies $1200 probably wouldn't be out of line as only 640 of them were made. They are great pistols and I love my MK2 version but personally I wouldn't buy a NIB one unless it was under a thousand as I shoot every gun I own so I'd look and see if I couldn't find a lightly used one unless you purely want to collect it and not fire it. Just my .02 cent and probably worth less.

I hope (pray? beg?) to find a nice one someday for maybe $700 to $900... but it won't be brand-new-unfired-in-original-box-with-all-papers, etc. I can absolutely guarantee that!

As I've said before, my experience tells me that "brand-new-unfired-in-original-box-with-all-papers" brings a huge premium price to almost any 3rd Gen that I could never afford. It's a lesson that has repeated itself several times in the last year. A man's got to know his limitations and I sure as heck know mine.

I'd say that a Shorty .45 in that (unfired-in-box) condition could easily bring $1,100 to $1,250 and possibly beyond. Folks out there with deep pockets and a lust for the absolute rarest and best won't let a few hundred dollars stand in their way.

Unless you have your heart set on a Shorty, you might want to consider a CS45. I picked one up in 90%+ condition with 2 mags and no box for $425 out the door.

Their only unfired until you shoot them. For the asking price you could pick up a very nice 1911. Just something to think about.

I'll throw in on this one just to add another opinion, for what it's worth.

For a long time, back a year or so ago when I had been looking for one, Shorty45s seemed to never come up for auction. I looked for one for months -- literally -- before happening upon one totally by accident at my LGS. No box or papers, and only one mag, but I snapped it up for what was an outrageously good price (though not as good as the one Shorty45Mk2 paid for his!)

Since then, say for the past six months or so, I've started seeing them come up on GB from time to time. Folks definitely are testing the waters of pricing on these, and trying not to leave any money on the table in the process. From what I have seen, and how I evaluated my own pistol when I sold it recently by necessity, a used Shorty 45 (and it doesn't seem to matter if it's the original version or the Mark 2) with a couple of mags and no box, is worth at least $900. That indicates to me that a new-in-box example should be worth at least $1,200.

As Shorty45Mk2 pointed out, with only 640 of these produced, the rarity of this outstanding pistol and the renewing interest in 3rds Gens in general and PC 3rd Gens in particular, means that a collector might pay upwards of $1,500 or so for one, but a shooter might not go that high. Still $1,200 to $1,500 is entirely reasonable, I think.

I also agree with Shorty45Mk2 that buying a brand new one with the intention of shooting it is an expensive proposition, and that waiting to find one that has been fired is much preferable. At the same time -- and this will sound like heresy, but it is my opinion -- a good 4513TSW will do anything that a Shorty 45 will do. Both are wonderful guns, and the cachet of the Shorty 45 is undeniable, but S&W really knew what it was doing with these two pistols.

If I were to buy it I intend to shoot it. I have a few very pricey 1911s and they are shot, often. The buyer is asking nearly $1,400.00 and that, for me, is more than I am willing to pay for a pistol that will be shot and carried.

I have had a 4513TSW and sold it last year. Probably shouldn't have but such is life. The Short 45 and PC guns have a special place in my heart for some reason. I'm really interested in both the shorty and the 4563CQB version but neither seems to appear very often.

I think I will have to pass on this example and maybe I'll get lucky and find a more reasonably priced one in the future.
