My collection of 41-1s

Baker’s Dozen of 41-1s?
Picked up a couple more 41-1s this year and so I thought it was time to gather them together for a picture.
The picture shows 13 41-1s, I have not lettered any however I believe 12 are definitely genuine. I have the boxes for 3 so I know those are ridgy-didge. Only one stands out as possibly being a 41, its missing the “-1” stamping its serial number being 768XX, having said that it's very close to 2 others pictured that are stamped with the “-1” which are also 768XX.

I would think importing them would be difficult.

Good for you Aussie. That's a collection to be proud of. Some nice early ones in that pic for sure. Congrats on your laws which will open up on gun ownership as well. Hopefully it helps you and the Good people in your country. Merry Christmas to you Mate.

Has the price for 41-1s in the US dropped?

Importing firearms to Australia is not a big deal, however I have picked all of them up in Australia.
All year I was hoping to have the Baker’s Dozen by Xmas and picked up 1 this week.

All barrels are S&W however 2 are modified, I have a few .22 short barrels but at this stage will keep the guns as purchased. One of the 41-1s I added parts, it was purchased as a frame missing the barrel and slide so I fitted a short kit. The short kit in the picture came from a 41-1 the owner had reamed to fire 22lr, after highlighting the risk of damage we swapped short parts for a .22 LR kit. I hope to buy the frame one day and reunite the parts. My other short kits are currently on 2 model 46s and 2 41s as I purchased them.

I have never seen either the 5” or 5 ½” in Australia, having said that I know of only a few other 41-1s here. But they keep turning up and I keep swapping paper stuff for them.

The picture here was taken last year which is my desktop picture on computer and phone. Ten 41-1s.

We can only hope for better laws for responsible law abiding citizens here. In 2004 I suspect that as much as 50% of the 41-1s in Australia were destroyed in the government theft called a buyback, and feel the number much higher in the UK in 1997.

Your comment got me thinking so I went through my notes on the Model 41-1 for 2013.
This year there were 11 model 41-1s forsale on the web, that I found throughout the year anyway.
7 were 1976 assembled guns and 4 from the production run.
Nine of these being in the US, one in Canada, and one listed in Australia that I now have.
The production run guns are hard to come by, you have to luck onto one or fight for the few listed for sale.
Currently there are four model 41-1s from 1976 for sale in the US on the web, and have been listed for some time now.

Your -1 collection makes me quite envious and I congratulate you on your tenacity in acquiring them. I've learned a lot about these pistols from your's and Tom's and other member posts.
Importing firearms into Canada is very difficult and VERY expensive. I won't bore you with the details but if I could find one up here that was affordable (now being a pensioner) I would be all over it. So, until I find one I have to live vicariously through you.

824tsv, If you are really keen on a 41-1 I would call every gun dealer in Ontario or even Canada. Leave your name and number. Of all the ones I have I think only 3 were advertised for sale the rest in a safe hidden inconspicuously in the dark.

It appears that way, Im hopeful there are a few more to aim at, a 5" or 5 ½" would be nice one of each would be even better, and not to forget one from 1976.

I do shoot them occasionally; well maybe one a few times a year, believe it or not I usually take a 2206 or 422 to the range although lately it’s been a newer 41.

The others are similarly priced. If they were priced like this here I dare say I would not have many.
One on gunbroker you mentioned, this one has been listed a dozen times.
Mikes sporting goods, has 3 for sale which have been listed for at least 8 months.
There was a 5th on gunsamerica but for some reason I cannot reach the link.
