Default Longer barrel for 5906?

Is there a source for a longer (or already threaded) barrel to replace the stock barrel in a 5906?

I don't think Bar-Sto has made barrels for the 5906 in many years, and they just don't show up in the secondary market either. I've been looking for a long time...

This brings up a good question.....

How many people have suppressed third gen S&W's?

Is there any inherent difficulty? (Besides lack of readily avalaible barrels?)

I live in a state where we can absolutely buy and posess silencers, provided that they are mounted on a semi auto handgun made before September 1993. For reasons of supply and cost, the third gen would appear to be ideal as a host. But the barrel issue remains.

Most folks going this route use a pre 1993 Sig Sauer's p-series, Glock, or beretta. I'd like to use a 5906 or similar.

If this should be its own topic, let me know and I'll start one. I don't want to go off topic of the OP's intent.

I believe the only way to get an extended barrel for a 5906 is to find a barrel from the 5906 Super. I know that Bar-Sto will not make any more 3rd Generation barrels as I have inquired. I have one of their barrels in a Novak 915. I have also spoken with KKM Precision and with Storm Lake, and neither want to make barrels for the 3rd Generation pistols.

The pistols can be suppressed -- and all the way back to the 1st Generation Model 39 have been. There just are not any extended barrels. If I had to suppress a gun made before SEP-1993, my choice would be a Colt Series '70 1911. The frames last forever, there is an abundance of spare parts, and many people suppress them.
