Default Repurposed 6906

Last spring I picked up this former Penna Dept. of Parole training pistol, a deactivated model 6906, with a cut off firing pin, severely shortened mainspring, epoxy plugged barrel, and grip spray painted red. It had never been fired, and was in really nice condition, with just a few minor handling marks. I immediately set to work reactivating it by knocking out the barrel plug with a brass rod and small hammer, cleaning out the remaining residue by soaking the last inch of the muzzle in solvent, replaced the firing pin and mainspring, removed the red paint with a toothbrush and paint thinner, and promptly put fifty rounds through it, and it functioned flawslessly. Total investment was $353. Less than two weeks later I received a call from my LGS, where the owner had just taken a 6906 in trade, and knowing of my addiction, offered it to me the same day. Needless to say I bought it, and for $300 out the door! Also in excellent condition, and also fires flawlessly... A before and after pic of the repurposed 6906, followed by both of them.

Great looking 6906's! I have an older one which serves as my primary HD pistol - it's the version with no mag safety and the "Capable of firing..." warning laser-etched on the slide.
