"5915" Hybrid Project"
Bought this 5906 ex-LE stripped frame for $130 with the intention of rebuilding it using an early, non Novak sight 5906 slide I picked up for twenty bucks some time ago. After searching through my spare parts and realizing I needed quite a few things to complete it, including a barrel, I hunted around for any third gen parts "kits", and picked up an entire 915 minus frame for $95, with the intention of using the small parts and barrel. Well, after test fitting the 915 complete slide assembly, i've changed my mind and decided to go with the two-toned look, which i've designated as my "5915", I think it looks great, and will be my new regular plinker & range pistol. Here's a pic, far from completed, but you get the idea...

Great minds run in the same track
I saw a 2-tone 915 either here or on GB last year. Thought it looked cool, so I did the same thing. Found a scroungy, old 5906 frame. Bought a complete 915 slide assembly, plus the other needed parts. Had the slide Cerakoted black and the frame grey by an outfit just south of C-bus. Looks great. Shoots great. Has Trijicons and a Crimson trace. Hafta keep it because I'll never get my money back. Oh, well.
Have another 915 slide. Am thinking of making a 3914 "long" slide.
It's a disease, I tell you.
S/F,
RAS

I've got a thread around here somewhere on what I guess I should call my 3915. I agree - I like the 2 tone look, now that I have one. Yours looks just as good (though a bit chubby in the butt, if you know what I mean...)

Is that like having "too much junk in your trunk"?

I have the EXACT opposite gun! My 915-06 is a good looking two-tone pistol. I will send the stainless 5906 slide off to Novak's to have them install a 1911 Tritium front sight with their adjustable Novak rear.
My 915-06 is a good shooter. I have an extra slide (from the 915) and have a long-distance gun project when I will ultimately put a Trijicon RMR onto a complete 915 upper. It will have a custom RMR mount fashioned by Chris McVety at Amerigun with Supressor sights on it.
What's cool is that it will fit all three of my autos: 659 Rail Gun, 5906 and 915-06.
Great to be a 3rd Gen Geek. It's all 18DAI's fault!!!

Here are some pics
Gun now has Trijicons, and a Crimson Trace grip. Cera Koting was done by Performance Powder Coating in Columbus.

Finally had some free time to finish up my "5915". Shortened up the frame tang, beveled the dust cover, gave the frame a quick bead blast, and installed a 6904 hammer, and ambi safety (south paw shooter). Now just need some time to hit the range...

Looks good. I like a proper Two Tone Gun... not this reverse stuff they're putting out these days. Two Tone guns had a reason behind them.
The Stainless frame was so that sweat doesn't rust the gun. The matt finished slide was to reduce glare and improve the sight picture.
Looks good!

Looks like the "big brother" to my PC SD-9 (steel 6906 frame w/ a 4.25" barrel" configured like badman's)
