CS 9 ??
Thinking of a CS9 as my next acquisition as my attraction to 39/59 series continues. Wondering how common/available they are; what's the going price; which, the stainless or blued version, is easiest to find. Comments, opinions or suggestions encouraged.

I don't buy guns through the internet, other than local forums. I waited between 2-3 years to see one in the flesh here in Western PA. It was listed at $600 originally, but I got it for quite a bit less. I mostly see them around $550 or so.
Mine is SS, but I would've preferred blue. After that wait, I wasn't going to get picky.

I got a blued one with box and papers off Gunbroker and 2 mags in excellent condition for $425, but I was very lucky. No other bidders so it was under the radar. Oct 11 2014.

CS9's aren't that common, but they are available. Seems like more stainless than blue examples show up on GB. For some reason, the blue ones always seem to be in rough shape, but anything can be rehabilitated.
$500 to $600 seems to be the going price - some more, some less, but it seems to be increasing (as is everything else). Add for extra mags ($30+) and Big Dog Grips (which are $100 new).
CS45's are a bit less common and a little higher priced.
I have a CS9 and a 908 and the 908 gets much more holster time. 908's and 3913's are more available and priced just a bit less than CS9's. If I could only have one for an EDC, I'd get a 908/3913 before the CS9. Just depends on what you need.

I've been looking for a CS9 for several years and I've never seen one in person. I don't buy off the web so I'll keep looking locally. Maybe 2015 is the year. I sure have bought a few different models while on my quest.

Get all three; CS9 around $550, CS40 around $575, & CS45 around $600. All stainless steel.

The BIG DOG grips are nothing more than cut down modified 3913 grips. I have looked at the BD grips and find them no more than the ones I made. I have a pair of Hogue Pau Ferro and Hogue Rubber coated that fit my CS9. So all is not lost now that BD is only making a limited supply. I have a total of $25 in my rubber coated ones which the design matches the original S&W plus inserted a silver medallion logo which the BD doesn't have.
A CS9 is a good investment. They will only increase in value. Easy to break down to clean. I'm going to try to complete the whole set.
