Default See anything wrong with this 1972 S&41?

I'm looking to get a 41 to compliment my Les Baer 1911 for bullseye competitions. I found this 41 in driving distance (5hr round trip). Looks pretty solid, he said there's no blueing wear, pitting or rusting. He also said it shoots well. I can get it for $925, seems like a good deal. Comes with 1 mag, no box, no papers and he doesn't really have the history of it.

I would take either one for that price. You will have to basically handle each one and see them close up. Both should make a nice gun no matter which one you choose. You will enjoy owning it for sure. I would ask the owners if they are ammo selective. Some of them will shoot more brands of ammo then others. Some are fussy and really need the CCI SV only. That can make a difference as to wether you can buy it locally with ease or not. I know where I live here we have NOT seen any in months.

The A213653 (More likely 1974) would be a better pick in my opinion. If you take it - a complete cleaning and possibly a new slide spring is suggested prior to shooting.

Default S&W 41

I thought the grip screw slots were a little abused making me wonder about other work that might have been heavy handed.

Having two to choose from is a nice problem.

Good Luck
