Default Are all of these authentic S&W mags?

Are all of these authentic S&W mags?

They came with my CS9 when I bought it used a couple years ago.

The first two have the S&W logo; the 2nd two don't.

The first two have slightly different spot weld dimples than the 2nd two.

The stamped numbers on the 2nd two are deeper than on the first two.

The mag followers on 2nd two rise out of the mag body a little more than on the 1st two; they also seem to tilt back a bit.

Other than these differences, I haven't noticed any other differences to either the construction of the body or internals. They all seem to work fine, although I have not run that many rounds through them. Maybe 4-5 mags full on each one.

Could the 2nd two be a different brand? Or is it just a different batch of S&W?

Thanks for any info.

David

Look on the bottom and see if there is a indented area (kind of hard to describe) and look for the words smith & wesson stamped in there. May need a magnifying glass to read it. They look similar to the ones for my 952s except shorter.

The two with no logo look like my original 2, came with the CS9. There is a "S" "M" on the reverse side near the bottom. They certainly look original.

They are original - older magazines did not have the logo.

jsbethel is exactly correct, the logo was added later, after the "Clinton ban".

Thanks a lot. You guys are a wealth of knowledge!

Do I need to be at all concerned about the tilted followers?

Followers tilt a bit differently (in empty mags) when springs are at different tensions. Might not indicate a problem, though ... unless the springs are significantly shorter among themselves, and feeding failures or the slide failing to lock back on an empty mag starts happening.

Being a used gun, however, for peace of mind it's a simple thing to order new mag springs from the company ... and a new red recoil spring (CS9) ... and start "fresh" with your use of it.

The mag springs for the 3913/CS9 (and variants) are either painted red at one end, or the whole spring may be painted red. I've gotten them both ways whenever I reorder new springs.
