Default Help need 952-2 longslide info

I've tried the search and didn't find anything.
What I have is a NIB 952-2 longslide two tone (black & polished stainless) I'm going to selling this for an estate and have read they only made 17. It was supposed to be a shot show prototype I think. Also I think that info came from this sight. But couldn't find it now. If anyone has that info please let me know.
Thanks MIKE

It is stunning, even with the poorly lighted picture. It is going to bring a whopper of a pile of cash when sold.

To enhance that sale, contact S&W historian Roy Jinks and request a factory letter. The letter will cost $50 and take 4-6 weeks to get, but it is true provenance for the pistol.

My big question would be who did the previous owner know? Seems like it would require friends in high places to get a hold of that pistol.

When you find out what your gonna ask for the 952-2 this forum would be the place to sale it. Plus it would go to a loving home here with one of are members. Best of luck, and I would have the gun lettered also.

I sold the gun new back in 07 I think it came through RSR or Hortons. Been long enough just don't remember for sure. I understand getting a factory letter on an older gun but this one has the box that shows the product code for the two tone . So what would the benefit be other than knowing for sure what distributor it went to. Would they list production numbers on the letter? My guess is the gun will bring 5K plus and since it is an estate deal it will probably go on Gunbroker. But if someone here is willing to drop 5 large let me know ASAP. Not trying to make this a sales listing but I have to list it on GB by tomorrow

I think it will do extremely well on Gunbroker. If it is Lew Horton, they can letter it also and probably quickly at that. And yes, you certainly needn't letter it for sale, especially if the estate needs it done ASAP but what I am saying is that the little notes you think you remember can and perhaps likely WILL be confirmed in the letter.

It is a stunner. I would fail miserably in the gun business... I wouldn't want to sell such treasures.

Looking for an update on this pistol -- I haven't seen it posted on Gunbroker yet, unless I have missed it?

This is my favorite out of my 952 collection, and one of my favorites overall in my PC collection. I call her Black Beauty. I have asked the gentleman I acquired her from to help with any information on the background and I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from him.

Numbingly gorgeous. I look at it and call it my grail gun, but reality hits shortly after.

I have received the following info from the previous owner of mine:

"Reportedly 1 of 17 made for Elliott Brothers. The product code is 170301FC. I confirmed that Elliott Brothers was the exclusive distributor and the product code with Smith & Wesson before I sold it to you. Grinder (another forum member and expert on Performance Center guns) told me he also had heard that only 17 were made. I could never confirm this and I did not have it lettered. Hope this helps."

I will point out that it isn't "Elliott" but rather Ellett Brothers.
Ellett Brothers Home Page

You could perhaps contact them at that website and maybe they can confirm your pistol -- Lew Horton does that on their guns.

Wow! I guess I should have grabbed one when Grinder gave me the heads up.

That bad boy should bring over 4k if you sell it.

Mike and I worked out a deal for this 952-2. If anyone has seen my past posts on 952's then you know this was my holy grail. I've put in the back of my armory and will probably only take it out for photo shoots. I couldn't be happier and Mike couldn't have been any more professional and courteous. I would highly recommend Mike and his shop for any purchases! It was nice to feel like a kid at Christmas again when this beauty arrived. . .

I suppose I should be happy that it never ended up on Gunbroker as the drive-by said that it would -- if anything, PC guns on Gunbroker serve to raise all the prices on PC guns. Not that it controls the market or anything, simply that it does absolutely nothing whatsoever to soften the market for Performance Center pistols... ever.

I've pretty much figured that I will likely not ever own a 952 of any flavor, the rational operator in me simply cannot make sense of the math. Suffice to say, I thought a long slide 952-2 was my "holy grail" until I saw pictures of this one.

Not whining! If I hadn't seriously lucked in to my 845, I probably never would have chased and of the PC guns or 952's in the first place. For my 845, I am fortunate and I'm fine with that.
