Default S&W 6906 NIB fair price?

A Kansas man has not one but two NIB 6906s listed on Armslist. He's asking quite a bit for them, $1,300 each. (I was hoping that was for both of them, but alas.) I think he's really, really high. Anyone else have any recent experience on pricing for these guns?

That's what I thought. He is retired and has a bunch of stuff listed NIB. He does live closer to Colorado.

I saw these same pistols and the photos show an RT serial number on the frame and slide, a few years back I bought a LNIB 6906 with the same RT prefix on it...I was told that these pistols were issued to the Calif. Dept. of Corrections. Not sure how true it is, but that's what I was told.

Recognizing that this seller's guns are (apparently) unfired-new-in-box with all papers et al, which carries a significant premium in my area, I paid $400+Tx in January and $300+Tx last July for some very nice used examples. I'll acknowledge that I practically stole the first one which is in mint condition but without a box. The more recent one is in near-perfect condition except for one very tiny "ding" or "burr" on the front tip of the anodized aluminum frame (too tiny to see without magnification but can be felt). The more recent one came in its original box with a couple cool surprise extras.

That said, I track the selling prices of others in my area and $450+Tx (+/-) seems to be the most common selling price for a used one in decent condition. I would guess that a brand new unfired one in it's original box w/papers, etc. would bring as much as $650 to $700+Tx. Possibly even more with the right "well-heeled" buyer.

So maybe $1,300 *is* for two? At least that would kinda make sense!

No, it's not, it's per each. I emailed him to verify this. His bottom price is $1,250 for one gun. Nice looking but once you shoot it, it's right down there with the other used 6906s. I just ordered a used 6906 from IAMMO.com. It's one of the LYS reimports. I'm sure it's a little rough but will function just as well as a NIB. Paid $349 to Iammo for it. He's got 9 more if anyone else is interested.

I agree with most here; he is way out of line on price & is definitely blue skying it. NIB is cool, & it always means more expensive, but if there is one 3rdGen that is plentiful, it's the Model 6906. Don't get me wrong; it's one of my favorite 3rdGens, but at that price I'll pass.

Even if you wanted a NIB safe queen, that is an outlandish price for a 6906.

You might be surprised. I bought a 6906 (LYS import - Israel) from Iammo last year and it was in very good condition, great shooter.
