Default 1006, Should I pull the trigger??

I have been offered a 1006 with no box and 5 mags for $775.00. Gun is in good shape with just handling marks that I believe can be cleaned up pretty easily. This would use up my gun budget for the forseeable future as I have recently purchased a 6904, 6906 and a 3913. I would really love to have a 10mm but I hate the thought of not having the cash available should something spectacular show up at one of the LGS.

Is this a deal I should not pass up? Would love to get others thoughts and opinions. Thanks!

Prices of the 10mm's have fluctuated a good bit in the last few years but if I wanted another S&W 1006 I would buy the one you mention.

Sounds fair as long as all else is good. Mags go for about $25 to $30 used, so factor that in to the deal. If something else shows up you can put it on lay away and sell the 1006.

That is what I was thinking. I have seen some crazy prices for 10mm mags on ebay lately. Maybe I could sell 2 of them to help fund the purchase.

Thanks for the responses!

Understating this one so far...

In the real world, you have to be LUCKY and very well timed to snag a decent 1006 with one mag for $775. $775 with one magazine is not a "stop the presses!" steal, but it's a solid BUY price.

Add four magazines to it and $775 quickly becomes a steal.

Ok, you have convinced me (not that I needed that big of a push ) I will pick this one up tomorrow. BUT....I have to stop actively looking for more 3rd gens. No more visiting the classifieds or LGS. It is gonna be hard, but I have to pull in the reins a bit for now and enjoy what I have.

Thanks again for the replies!

I just st sold one for 1100 with 2 mags. I could not stand the double action trigger pull it was horrendous. When it felt like it should go off you had to keep pulling, blah she gone.

The DA trigger on 3rd gens is long and hard, but 'horrendous' shouldn't be a word to describe it. I didn't like mine at first but after the first couple of mags (and some BAD shots) I was crazy about it. Maybe it needed a little action work.

Sorry lets say it was god awful, and horrible. It was pretty new though so maybe if someone hadn't offered that much i might still have it.

I sure wish I could find some 1006/1076 mags for $25-$30! Last I looked they were approaching $100! And some of them have sold for half that again. I only have 3 for my 1076 and would love to have 3 more for a $100 bucks.

As far as buying the 1006, I say Jump On It! Very sweet shooters and hard to find at that price. I recently sold one for $800 with one mag, because I could not afford to keep it and the 1076. I feel your pain 3regenZen, being broke sux. I have often spent my "rat hole" cash on a gun I wanted, only to find "a deal" right after. Such is life for us poor working folk. But I'm dang proud of the ones I do own. Here's my 1076.

Default 1006

Hello everyone. I have recently purchased a very nice 1006, a genuine safe queen on a local listing including magazines. I am thrilled to have "pulled the trigger" on both this and my recent FBI 1076 purchase. I hope everyone is having a safe holiday weekend!
