Default Model 41 barrel compatibility

Hi,

I tried to search for the info, but did not find anything.

I have a 5.5 inch barrel Model 41.

I would like to buy a 7 inch barrel.

Are there any compatibility issues related to pistol age. I believe my Model 41 was built during the 80s. Serial A670927

Thanks,

jim

No fitment issues(though some may need a little fitting,as is the nature of 41 barrels) Barrels of different eras may have a different finish.

Thank you for the info. I'm more of a shooter than a collector so a finish mismatch won't bother me.

I'm having fun with a small stable of S&W 22LR pistols and revolvers. They are all far more accurate than I am but a ball to shoot.

Thanks again,

Jim

Default fitting barrels

I have found only a hand full of barrels will require fitting.
There was one sport barrel I had, brand New, and it would not fit any of the model 41 frames I had, and we are talking a bunch.
Never force the trigger guard closed if you do find one that does not quite lock up. It's not too hard to remove the material from the right spot on the locking lug to get it to seat. Best let a gunsmith, or you would need to send the whole mess frame and barrel to S&W. They charged me $75.00 quite a few years back.
