Default LadySmith ejects brass at head!

Hi Guys, this is my first post to this forum, so appologies if I do something incorrectly, thanks.
I recently was fortunate to find a LadySmith and 639 in mint conditions for a reasonable price. I was particularly exstatic to find the LadySmith because they've become somewhat scarce. As I said, this one was absolutely mint, and possibly unfired. The first few mags were fabulous and I loved the handeling of the gun. when I came off cloud nine, I began to notice that I was getting hit in the forehead with hot brass! The pistol ejects the spent brass STRAIGHT BACK. Each and every shell, any ammo, any mag! I am assuming this is not a design flaw, and other than this issue, I'm truly in love with this Lady. Before sending her off to a gunsmith, has anyone encountered this type of issue with Smith auto's before or have a guess as to what's going on? I really appreciate any knowledgable ideas. Many thanks, Frederick

My M&P9fs did that when I first got it. I actually called cs and they sent me a shipping label. But I shot it more and problem cleared up.

In a 1911, that is indicative of an ejector that is slightly off in terms of shape. I don't recall the details. I'd suspect that the same is likely to be true here. I am sure that there are a couple of more savvy members here w/gunsmithing backgrounds who could explain a lot better and provide some help. While there could be an issue with the recoil spring, it is less likely unless the spring was the wrong weight from the start, or you are using ammo that is well outside the performance envelope for the factory spring (a lot hotter or more mild).

At the next cleaning, I'd look at the ejector for damage & the extractor claw & spring for free movement. I'd scrub the extractor & breech face with solvent & a toothbrush. How are your primers? I'd check the firing pin movement.
I'm thinking that the spent cases are hanging on the breech face too long. I've had soft primers & high pressures lock firing pins (hot .357s in revolvers).
