Model 4006 10 round magazines needed
Does anyone know where 10 round magazines for Model 4006 can be purchased? I ordered what was advertised as 10 round Magazines for the 4006 and upon arrival of these magazines from two different sources found them labeled 4006/410 and they are too short by about 1" to fit the 4006. Hawaii like a few other states restricts magazines to 10 round. Could a magazine carrying more than 10 rounds be legally modified to limit it to 10? Any information would be most appreciated....Aloha

Oh you could definitely modify a standard one and it would be quite easy to do but it's legality in a 10-rd limit state?! I don't know who here would be qualified to answer!

You have to check if your mag laws in Hawaii will even allow the modification and if so, is there a specific manner in how the modification needs to be done?
You may not even be able to legally obtain a larger capacity magazine to reduce it down to 10rds, which is the case here in CA where we are restricted to 10rd mags too.
What's the story? Do you not have any 10rd magazines at all for the 4006 or are you having a problem with the ones you have?
While new ones are difficult to find, the internals (springs, blue followers, base plates, etc.) to rebuild a magazine are available.

I live in the People's Republic of Massachusetts where magazines are limited to 10 rounds unless they are pre-bans. The question comes up endlessly regarding the legality of normal magazines being altered to limit them to 10 rounds. The fact is that nobody knows for certain whether or not altered magazines would be legal. It is not addressed in the law and there is no case law or regulatory guidelines that have been issued to address the question.

Have two update
The two I have are still new, and were purchased directly from S&W.
I have the original receipts and they were listed as follows:
Prod 239340000 4006 MAG ASSEMBLY 10RD LOW CAP BLK

Are the ones sold on the big E website by Joes Pawn actually 10 rounders, or are they 11 rounders and not showing us the backside? I say this because they have the law enforcement stamping on them and thought LEO only used 11 or more round magazines?

OK, I see now. All 10 rounders have the horizontal bar indentation.

Yep. Those are ban period (1994-2004) LEO/export 11-round magazines... highly illegal in my moonbat state where anything over 10-rounds absolutely must be pre-bans (pre-1994) or else!
