4566, 6906, 3913 Question
Well I have decided to get away from poly guns with the exception of my m&p shield and glock 19c. I have as a 5906 & 5906tsw for a while now and they are honestly my favorite handgun to shoot and they just feel right in the hand. I have been bidding on a 4566tsw but can't seem to find the ones someone said they were buying for $350 on GB. Also I'm looking at getting a 6906 or 3913. The 6906 is around $369 on GB and the 3913 a little higher. I'm wondering if anyone owns those two which one you prefer. I may use either as carry guns in the colder months. Thanks in advanced! Some pics of the 5906 with new grips from my last outing

I have all three...5906,6906 and 3913..........my primary carry gun since about 1990 has been some flavor of 3913/14/NL.......... with a spare mag.. and Hogue wood grips...I live in a very safe suburb of "The Burgh"........
If I travel I usually take a 6906....just in case.... with spare 12 and 15 rd.(with +2 adapter) magazines........just in case.
The 5906 is too heavy to carry IMHO if you have the choice of an alloy frame.....If I go full size (rarely) its a 915.........

If your 5906 feels right in your hand then the 6906 will too.....and pricing compared to a 3913 will be less expensive for comparable condition due to the shear number offered at any given time....IMO both will carry just as easy ....like I said if the 5906 feels right then the 3913 may feel too "thin" for you....I carry my 3913NL with 7+1 and the 6906 can go with 12+1......if you go somewhere where you need more rounds than that........................take your AR

Lol ya I carry an m&p shield 9 on a daily bases so I think either will do. I plan on getting both at some point but getting the 4566tsw and one of the other at some point

I have flavors of all three. Summertime carry, with lighter cover shirt, is a 3914TSW (with luggage rack). Winter, with heavier clothing, tends to be the 6906 with a "regular" mag inserted and a couple of 59XX mags with adapters as spares. I like the feel of the thinner 39XX series better, but am more comfortable with more rounds come winter....

Don't have a 39 series. Do have 5906, 6906, and 4566.
I hope you can get a 4566. I think you'll love it. I love mine.
As much as I love my 6906, I carry my CZ82 more, because it has a vastly superior trigger pull and conceals a little better.
That said, if I didn't have the CZ, I'd carry my 6906 the most.

I'll join the chorus. I have all three and as just about everyone who shoots one says, the 5906 is a terrific shooter. It's just too heavy for civilian carry (IMHO). I've carried my 6906, but it's also a bit heavy with the double stack magazine.
Right now my preferred carry piece is a non rail 3913TSW, but I'm also good with my 3913, 3914NL, or 3913TSW with rail. The non rail 3913TSW has the advantage of having a shorter grip which makes it just a touch easier to conceal.
My only .45 3rd Gen is a 457, which I carry occasionally. If you want a compact .45 at a reasonable price, that's a good option.

+1 on the 457 . I picked one up recently and was pleasantly surprised . I doubt that I'll carry it much, since my cs45 is my "big" carry gun , but I'll have it if I need it. Priced at under $350 on GB. Even after transfer fees, I'm under $400 invested.

I bought a 4566 TSW off of GB for $400.00 shipped. No one else was biding on it. A very good condition LEO trade in gun. The guy at Gideon Tactical said they bought a lot of Wildwood NJ PD guns. I got 3 mags. They advertised 2. Got lucky I guess. And they have another one up.

I would opine that the 3913 is the best combination of power, concealability and accuracy that has yet been devised by Smith & Wesson. With proper ammo, it's really hard to beat. This is one I equipped with Trijicon night sights for low light scenarios.

Nice. Had to put on the old shades to look at it. Arctic camo? Or did Snow White leave it with you.

Actually, I like it for the fact that if you pull it at night, whoever is bothering you will see it right away and may decide to pursue other endeavors more rapidly...

Do you have a pick? I seen theirs but I'm looking at one that's a lil but more but looks really clean.

Is that the 115 grain CorBon load? If so, pretty hot stuff and my favorite 9mm load.

Yep, I put away a stash of it quite some time ago. It really zips.

No picking. I guess you could if you went to the shop. Mine looks just like the one shown on the site.

I dont know about all of the ones you are looking at. I will say that when you are bidding look at what is being offered by offered by Kings Firearms. I recently purchased one of their 6906 that was offered on GB. I was lucky and did not have to pay transfer fees because they are actually a LGS to me. I bid and won the auction on Sunday night and picked it up Monday after work. They seem to be a great group of guys and come highly recommended by most all of the locals that purchase many more guns than I do.
The 6906 I got was in great condition with very little wear. It cleaned up great and shot just like it was supposed to.

I have bought a few of Robertsons S&W's over the years. The guns have a ID # with the gun's pics. They are the exact gun you will be shipped. Never had a problem with that shop.

My only 3rd gen is a 6906 so I'm not qualified to offer an opinion
But, if ever a gun seemed built around my hand, this is it.
Solid without being heavy, soft shooting, reliable to a fault and down right purty.
How can you lose?

There are different variants of the 3913. It took me a while to find this one. Didn't care for the grey variant, or the LS one. GARY

I have a LadySmith that looks like that on my bedside table, but with 24/7 Big Dots on it for night sights. I have to agree that it's a fine piece of gunmaker art !

I find the 6906 pretty easy to carry OWB. I've been carrying mine off and on for a year.

I've got all three, and like them in the following order:
1. 6906
2. 4566
3. 3913
The 3913 looks the coolest, but I don't really shoot it that well. I've found the 6906 to be as accurate in my hands as its bigger brother, the 5906. The 4566 pretty much feels like a commander 1911 to me.
