3rd Gen serial numbers
While checking this forum for M&P info I became interested in the Gen 3 Smiths. I have a 915 that appears to have very little wear on it arriving at my local FFL today and I've found a nice 3913 that I've put on lay away.
The 915 has a serial number starting with VCR and the 3913 starts with TEA. Any thoughts on when these guns may have been produced?
Thanks,
J

The easiest way to get this information is to call S&W customer service and give them the serial numbers. They will be able to give you the month and year of production.

Lol. Was for sale...but I'll be sending my first lay away payment today. The guy was kind enough to work with me on it. From the pics it appears to be gently used, with 2 mags and the original box.

Me too, I started looking at this forum for M&P info and became interested in the Gen 3's. Now I own 2 M&P's and 4 Gen 3's, a 5906, 4566TSW, 6906, and a 4043. I'm on the lookout for more Gen 3's...

Nice. The first 2 numbers on the 915 are 54. I wonder what month in '95 that makes it. I don't know the full number yet. It's been delivered to my FFL.

Congrats on your new acquisitions!
Remember, S&W doesn't always ship in numerical order.

3913 TEA 92XX
Wondering if someone can tell me a roundabout date of manufacture and if 500 bucks would be too much to pay for this super clean Gen 3
No Factory Box just 2 factory Mags Also I have heard that this model with the straight dust cover is refereed to as a Compact Unlike the Lady Smith Frame
Is this True
Thanks ahead
DOGG!!!

There are serial# tables in the back pages of the Standard Catalog of S&W, or you can post the serial# here and someone will look it up for you. All you will get is an approximate year of manufacture. Anything more specific you will need it lettered.

If you call the factory and give them the serial number, you'll get the month and year of manufacture. Some people have have got the exact date, but I never have.
