Default Used - all THREE Generations

I'm looking for comments on the used guns for sale at iAmmo.com. It's not an auction, just a sales site, and they have a number of S&W 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Gen pistols available, and I think a couple of M&Ps, too. Just curious if anything appears to be a great deal from those of you with better understanding than I of older S&W pistols.

I'd like to pick up a TDA S&W with a capacity over that of a 6906 or maybe even a Browning HP.

Thanks.

I checked out the used S&W pistols at iammo; I thought there prices are a little high for the condition.
I EDC a 6906 with a 15rd mag with a grip adapter.

Well, my experience kind of goes both ways with guns that came from iammo.com

I had read a post on these forums about a shipment of re-import 39-2's they got in from somewhere off the continent (Israel, perhaps?) and these were formerly issued duty pistols. The fellow that posted here got an extremely nice one at "grade B" level and I got to talking with two of my shooting buddies in very short order.

Long story short, we each bought one so three of these in all, and we all selected a "Grade B" which was an upcharge over the "Grade C."

All three of them were in EXTREMELY used condition. On one pistol, the rear sight screw was broken off and missing (screw shank inside the sight, likely never to come out) and on another, the entire rear lollipop sight is loose in it's spot and needs to be replaced. The last of the three has genuine wear and finish issues but is an absolute runner and while worst looking of the three at first glance, it's a fantastic shooter.

Comparing to the pictures of the pistol that the poster ordered and received, it seems wholly obvious that we got three "Grade C" pistols even though we requested, were charged and paid for "Grade B."

In an odd twist...
By the time the pistols arrived at our FFL, iammo.com had jacked the price up on each of them by like $20, (ours were already paid for) but either way... two of the three guns have genuine issues and all 3 of the 3 guns simply couldn't be anyone's version of a "Grade B."

We rolled the dice, we took our chances and we don't have a pile of money in these guns. I feel ****** about the whole transaction because it was my idea. On the other hand, we all went to the FFL together and we each did our own 4473 and I let each of them select their pistols before I looked at any of them and I took the one they left for me. (which as I said, was clearly the best of the three)

We never bothered to contact Iammo or complain. It's the only time I've dealt with them. I really have no idea if this is how they always do things or what.

If you do chase one down, please do report back.

I was looking at those earlier after they were posted in another thread. The prices do look a little steeper than I would expect based on the photos provided. You have to give them credit for showing some pretty terrible photos, though.. maybe they don't want anyone to be surprised? That 5904 they photographed looks like it was pulled out of the ocean somewhere!

Speaking of... is it normal to see so much wear around the slide stop pin? People used a screw driver to punch it out or something?

I've actually been looking to pick up some blued guns in this condition, do some sand blasting, cerakote, and replace some parts here or there, but most of these would have to come down a bit to make that worthwhile. My LGS has had Smiths come through lately in A condition at prices just above these.

If they were in "A" condition and you saw that and confirmed it with your own eyes... I sure hope you bought some of them.

The really nice ones to show up lately have all been value-line (a 908, 910, and a 915) which I'm staying away from this early in my collection efforts. I kind of wish I picked up the 910, but I'm afraid of the plastic rear sights. Did pick up a pretty solid 4583TSW there, though. Between that and the LH9 I ordered yesterday ($400 pre-black Friday deal--hopefully my wife likes her Christmas present!), I'm going to have to let my gun fund recuperate for a little while.

I purchased a 6906 from IAMMO back in June this year. I'd say it was a "B" condition gun in pretty good shape overall. This was before they started with the condition grade pricing, and I paid $349 plus shipping. It does have a re-import marking on the bottom of the frame and I was told by someone on this forum that the gun was used in Israel before re-importing back to the U.S. I don't think I'd pay what they want for a comparable condition 6906 now.

I have a 6906 that is a re-import, allegedly from Israel. It's not an iAmmo gun, not that I know of; it came to me via a local FFL.

I didn't buy any of those guns yet but I might; we'll see.

Never heard of iammo till now. Prices seem decent. Try a place called Robertson's Trading Post in Tennessee. I bought a few nice guns from them via GB. Seems they get some of those S&W's from the Pureto Rico Nat Guard.
