Default 4026 value

In the early 90's my department converted to Smith & Wesson 4026 from .357 mag. revolvers (Smith 586). I was able to buy a 4026 at the dept cost and I have never fired it. Since I always had my dept issued duty weapon I never needed to fire it and after several years the idea of owning an unused, no longer in production pistol gained appeal in my mind. Don't know if I was correct or not. Any opinions on the value. I realize they were made for only a few years (1990-1993) but it was my first .40 and I always liked it. Our dept changed to Sig 229 40's several years later and I own that one as well but it was my duty gun so had been fired thousands of times. Its not for sale so lets call it for insurance purposes.

I'll take a wild stab at this.

A brand new unfired 4026 with all the goodies should be in the $1000 range for insurance purposes.

My 4026 was shipped in March 2000, and while not unfired when I got it, was in amazing shape, barely shows signs of firing. It has 1500 -2000 rounds through it now, and I probably would not sell it, but if I did it would be in the $700-$800 range. It's one of my top 2 favorites of non-compact 3rd gen.
