Default New 4506 ,circa 2004 anyway...

Just picked up a LNIB 4506 with 3 mags. Straight grip, though a curved will soon be installed as I much prefer the curved.

A circa 2004 gun that saw little if any use in it's life.

Looking forward to this next week and some range time. Hopefully things here will warm up a bit.

Pics and a range report to follow.

Congrats Frank!

One of my favorite pistols. Could you tell us the three letter serial prefix on yours and whether it laser etched or roll marked? Thanks! Enjoy that fine 45! Best regards 18DAI

Really nice acquisitions Frank and lowill! I hope you will love your 4506s as much as I do mine.

For what it is worth, I experimented with different grips for my 4506 and finally settled on Hogue rubber. They are comfortable and helped to improve my accuracy. They fill up the gap between the right side of the grip and my palm giving me a very secure grip.

I really like the 4506. I believe it to be more accurate than the 1911 (it is about a century newer in design) in my hands at least, and a great heavy, full size 45 ACP handgun. Not to mention that it costs half as much, or less than a 1911, and is heavy enough to use as a club if you run out of ammo.

Default Nice snag.

I picked up a clean one about a year ago. And I was able to get some factory magazines from Brownell's for it. I am pretty happy with it.

Nice pistol. I have a 1006, but I wish I had a 4506 too. It's my understanding that 4506's were only produced from 1988-1999. Could be wrong tho.

Regular production just about. After '99 they did make limited batches for certain customers, like larger LE agencies and some large dealers/wholesalers.

The serial is BAY 34XX.

The frame appears to be laser engraved but it is deep...Appears to be almost roll engraved, but it was done by a laser. The slide is laser engraved but not nearly as deeply etched as the frame.

Hoping to shoot it tomorrow.
