Just bought two mags from Bud's for $54.88 + $10 shipping. You're right, they're hard to find. None available locally -- Delaware. First range trip with mine tomorrow.

Well Smith's 2206 didn't stray far from this generic look of a S&W pistol. It also has similarities to a years back Colt 22 target auto, although it was done with a stainless barrel and barrel extension that mated with a stainless frame/receiver that then mated with the outward synthetic grip/frame look to it. These designs all prior to the "all plastic" versions we now see with just about every manufacturer. I like this much better, because if you now dink up the plastic grip, you simply order another one and don't have to FFL it since it only acts like the receiver and the mating block of stainless flats are what is actually considered to be the "receiver". I'll have to check one of these guys out. Smithy.

I want to post a shout-out to Always Armed for the links. I ordered four from HamLund and couldn't be more pleased. The site works well, the system promptly acknowledges the order and they ship ASAP. The mags are totally factory in S&W individual cases. Buy with confidence.

Default Target Pistol?

There has been questions on the accuracy and designation "Target" pistol on the .22 Victory. I put up a target and every round I fired hit it!
Also, when asked about the accuracy of Air Force bombing in Viet Nam, a general answered, " Accuracy was perfect, every bomb we dropped hit the ground."
For me, the Victory .22 is very accurate.

I started shopping for new .22 plinker with sights my aging eyes could use (the 1st gen Woodsman, original model Ruger .22 and 1920s era H&R top break sights are sort of weak) and found the Victory. Amazing design and everyone who has shot one has talked about the accuracy. I handled one at my LGS and the feel and sights were great. Research into the design and features sold me.
I have also seen that Smith has a threaded barrel version that lists at $429. An aftermarket threaded match barrel is over $200 so it's sort of a no brainer. Has anyone heard of availability on the threaded model? The Distributor told my local guy I was not sure how soon they may ship. I just said get me one.

I'm waiting on the threaded version as well, no joy so far. None of the big distributors show any stock. The camo version is starting to trickle out so I would guess the threaded one isn't far behind.

I have to say I think S&W Victory sw22 is going to be a thorn for them with the mounting screw coming loose and having to carry the hex key when going shooting. Around every 150 shots I have to tighten the screw. I had cranked fairly heavy on the screw and it still keeps coming loose.
IMO this is a big design flaw in the sw22. I think S&W better find a fix for this flaw or the sw22 will be a short lived product. I wish I had known about this flaw before I bought this gun. This is an unacceptable problem.
I think S&W needs find a way to pin the take down screw to keep it from coming loose.

There have various solutions spoken about. You can try one of the following

1) Find a torque screw drive, tighten to at least 30lbs
2) Use Blue or Purple Loctite
3) Contact S&W and get a new screw.

I had the issue, I used purple Loctite. No more issue.

Purple Loc tite and a heavy torque fixed mine. Now I hate to take it apart to put the new barrel in Monday. Be sure to clean the screw and screw hole with Acetone then put the Loc Tite on the screw and run it home then back it almost out then tighten and torque to 40 Inch pounds. Don

I fired 171 rounds today with the Victory and the barrel stayed tight and in place. Finally getting my muscle memory set for tightening the screw. I put a drop of oil on the screw two weeks ago, maybe that helped as well.

This is exactly what I did but with blue locktite and it has stayed solid through several 100 rounds. Before locktite, the screw was way loose after 60 rounds and the trigger was not resetting.

The owners will just have to learn to tighten it up around 40 inch lbs which will do the trick faithfully for them.

I made an account just to speak for how accurate my 22victory is...

It's more accurate than me, couldn't have picked a better practice gun, plinking gun, and cotton tail population control gun. Most accurate 22 pistol I've ever bought. It's worth every bit of the MSRP if you get past the looks (that i like).

Me and my buddy were shooting a 6inch steel circle gong at 100yrds from a rest... I got 4/10 loli-popping the sight after sighting it in at 25. I should mention we had a suppressor on there, tends to help. I'm sure it's still awesomely accurate with out.

If you want to sight it in inside 25yrds, you may have issues, but no need to limit this gun that way. My rear sight bottomed out and was dead on at 25 with a perfect hold.

Concerning the screw, after i bought it I took it apart and cleaned it like every gun i buy, adding good grease lightly to moving parts and cleaning the barrel the day before the first run..
It took 40inch-pounds to remove my screw from the factory with my wheeler wrench.

Upon reassembly, I added blue lock tight and sent it back to 40inch pounds. 250+ rounds the first day.. No need to re-tighten the screw, still rock solid.

Best impulse buy I've ever had. I went in to price ruger 22/45's at different stores and walked out with this one store #2.
Threaded barrel was my priority. So glad I stumbled on this thing as accuracy was my second priory and this gun has it.. Unlike the 22/45 I was considering.. Read some nasty accuracy reviews on the 22/45 light, and made the connection playing with the thread protector in the store..

Thought it was not very attractive pistol when I first saw the pics- but after seeing it in real life, and close up, it's a nice looking pistol. Not a Colt Woodsman, or High Standard, but a good looking bull barrel pistol, nicely finished.

It has since been discovered that a #61 O-ring placed on the barrel screw does the trick quite nicely. By placing that on there it stays tight especially when torqued to 40 inch lbs. Its still easy enough to undo for cleaning as well.

Default I Got The Victory

Just got one through Gallery Of Guns. My first .22 semi auto handgun, though I've shot the Ruger that feels like a 1911. I wanted a Ruger Mark III until a friend who owns several tried to show me that the rumors about the difficulty of takedown were exaggerated. Took him 30 minutes to reassemble it. I like the Victory. Got it for $380 which included shipping, tax and fee. It looks well made. I haven't had any loosening issues, but I've only fired it about 70 times. Sighted it in. Very accurate. Love the rapid fire. If you want one through Gallery Of Guns, just know that you must jump on it as soon as you get the email. The first time I didn't respond for two hours and by then they were gone. S&W must be pleased by the sales numbers. Now I see that Ruger has responded with the Mark IV, but it's said to be more expensive. I like the looks of the Hunter model. I don't know if I'll get that, or buy one of the accessory barrels made by Volquartsen. If anyone has experience with either of the Volquartsen barrels, I'd like to hear about it.

I finally got a 22 Victory with a threaded barrel. I bought a plain model in late January this year. I've been looking for the threaded barrel for months since the state finally repealed its ban on suppressors. It cost $379.48 OTD. Now I must begin the long process of getting a suppressor for it. I want one strictly for 22 Long Rifle pistol and/or rifle. Any suggestions?

Oh yes...I have a #61 O-ring.

Thumbs down

My friend bought one over the weekend. He tried taking it apart to clean it and stripped the take down screw. It was so hard to try and remove he even used a 8"X1/4" brass nipple on the allen wrench. That just twisted the allen wrench! He sent it back to S&W per their instructions and told them that he really wished he had never bought it!

Hey guys, just so everyone doesn't get discouraged I just acquired a brand new victory yesterday and all seems well, take down screw was fine and the pistol ran perfect with the twenty or so rounds I was able to put through it. Overall I really like this little gun I did add the o-ring to the screw as people had mentioned.

Sorry about that Maine Guy. Old eyes will do that on occasion. I still mean the Welcome to you as its good to have you with us. Some of the new owners are catching on and saving themselves some problems by doing whats been suggested to them. The o-ring trick and proper torque specs really do work quite well for them. Many years of enjoyment out of these pistols guys.

Default The Screw

#61 "O" ring seems to be the answer- simple and inexpensive.. Like the pistol a lot- very accurate- doesn't seem to be a picky eater of any 1200 fps + I've tried so far..

Yep! I purchased the O rings and it totally eliminates the problem. Several hundred rounds and no loosening of the take down screw. Before that every 80 to 100 rounds it had to be tightened. I've had the Victory for going on 3 months now, and I love it. A great hand gun.
