Default 4513TSW loose factory grip question

I have a late model 4513tsw 7rd with frame rail. The factory grip on it is slightly loose at the top where the top of the grip meets the beaver tail. It shifts front to rear slightly. I sent the gun back to S&W and told them about the grip issue and I get it back a few weeks later exactly the same way! I called there customer service and they told me this particular model of pistol are all like this. I own about ten different 3rd gens and this is the only one like this. I even got another factory grip and swapped it myself and it's the same way. I ended up putting on Hogue grip panels and they fit nice and secure. Is anyone else's late model 4513tsw this same way? Thanks!

I've checked my LE special order 4513TSW, 7-round variant and the grip does not move at all.

When you had the grip off, did you check to make sure your sideplate was seated on the pin and was not broken? How about the two plastic shelves on the inside of the factory OEM grip (they slip onto the front strap on either side of the grip), were they intact?

Very strange that you still have this problem even after going with a second different factory grip. But if the Hogues went on and solved the problem I guess your frame is ok.

I like the Hogues better for shooting anyways. But the factory grip should go on properly regardless. Not surprised that s&w did nothing. I am surprised they didn't suggest you buy an m&p. Regards 18DAI

The one 3rd Gen I've owned with a slightly loose grip like yours was also loose with other grips, and my thinking was that the frame was slightly out of spec for some reason. It was a re-imported model 915 and never caused any issues or pinched my hand, so I didn't worry about it. Probably helped that it was a pretty affordable gun compared to a 4513TSW though.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking my frame is slightly out of spec as even with the hogue grips the left panel has a slight gap in the top rear of the frame below the beaver tail. The right panel is nice and snug (no gap). When I sent the gun back to S&W it had a loose frame rail which they fixed be re riveting it. But they didn't seem to do anything else. I also sent in a brand new old stock CS45 (2005 vintage) I had in storage I shot for the first time. The gun would experience FTF's after about 30rds when it got dirty. That gun they went all out in repairing. They changed out all the springs, new extractor, polished feed ramp and throated the chamber. Plus I complained the plastic tip of the guide rod was chewed up so they installed a metal one. They also gave me two free mags tested to the gun! I need to shoot it to see if it actually works but they really went above and beyond on that one. My poor 4513TSW they seemed to give up on! My 4513tsw was also a new commercial purchase that came new from a dealer in 2001 I believe.
