I would call S&W and let them know. They probably will send you a shipping label to send it back for adjustment.

First, before sending it in, inspect your SW22's ejector which has 3 spot welds that fasten it to the bolt shroud (the housing that surrounds the bolt and also holds the rear sight). It might just be slightly bent so that it doesn't eject the fired case reliably.

If not, THEN send it to S&W.

Sorry to hear of your current issues, those look to be a nice gun.
Did you clean the gun before shooting it? Some new guns are pretty gunked up and need the slide area cleaned and properly lubed.
Did this issue start right away or after 50 or so rounds?

Looks like an ejector, possibly an extractor issue. When a case flips and stays in the ejection port like that after firing, that is usually the issue. I would try a little SLIGHT manipulation of the ejector with a pair of needle nose pliers before sending it in for repair.

Had that problem the first time out. Switched to .22 ammo with at least 1200 ft/sec velocity at the muzzle. So far so good. TAC-22 was the worst. CCI mini-mag HP seems just fine.

I agree with this and intend to use high velocity ammo in my Victory(once I get it back). I run Rem. golden bullets in my Ruger Mk III 22/45 Lites to get strong bolt action.

Took mine to range yesterday to shoot for the first time and also had ejection issues, only one fired and ejected. Used (or tried to) Remington Golden Bullet.

Mine eats and spits out anything. 420 rounds so far with 6 different brands and not a single failure except loose screws. You got to clean it first before shooting as mine was a gunkie mess inside. Mine shoots TAC-22 the best so far and I have fed it some good match grade ammo. Also some petty low power stuff. Don

Seems like over the past week or so, i'm seeing more minor issues being reported on The Victory. Mine is back at Smith now for repair. No firing pin strike at all fight out of the box. Hmmm. Perhaps I should have waited a bit longer to buy, after it had established are solid track record. Nah, I couldn't resist. I trust Smith will make it right.

I've put 425 rounds thru my SW22, all standard velocity stuff that I normally shoot with my Kidd 10/22. I have yet to have a single failure to feed, fire or eject. I've shot Wolf Match Target (1050 fps), SK Standard Plus (1050 fps), CCI Standard Velocity (1070 fps), Eley Club (1085 fps) and Norma TAC-22 (1100 fps). I've got some Federal AutoMatch on order to see how the gun runs with bulk ammo. I'm sure it will run just fine. I suspect the problems people are having are due to manufacturing variability and/or inadequate QC. The slide stop would not engage on the first SW22 I almost bought. Anyway, I absolutely love my SW22, especially the ease of takedown and cleaning. And, I've never had an issue with the takedown screw loosening.

I had similar issues for my first 300+ rounds. Perhaps coincidentally, I switched from the Hoppes to CLP when cleaning it and I've just finished shooting 100 rounds without a single feed/eject issue.
Avoid Remington Thunderbolt at all cost! They have major lead fouling issues that clogged my barrel and caused tumbling.
Aside from that, CCI, Federal Auto-Match and Remington Golden Bullet all feed without any problems here. Good luck!

BTW - I definitely have the hex bolt coming loose. I checked it after 40 rounds, it was fine. When I finished after 100 rounds, it was loose.
I'm thinking about adding a #61 o-ring to tighten things up.

Loctite the barrel screw. Should help with stove piping ... It loosens over time and can cause this

Mine will not eject TAC-22 ammo. Everything else seems to work fine as long as it has 1200fps at the muzzle.

Got mine the other day and cleaned it up and headed to the range. Mine loved the Golden Bullets, very accurate. It liked 38gr American eagle too and mini-mags. It didn't like AutoMatch at all (failure to extract) and Federal Champions were tolerated, but still had some FTE's.

Accuracy was great and the trigger was more than tolerable. - Put about 200 rounds through it. Hopefully the extraction issues will clear up over time or someone will make a better after market extractor.

After initial cleaning B-4 firing first time, mine shot a box of Eley Target (sv) with no problems.

My Victory returned today from S&W. Initial issue out of the box. No firing pin strike at all. They replaced the hammer and sear.
Headed to the range and managed 40 rounds before the exact same issue returned the gun is once again heading back to S&W. Hoping for a better outcome the second time around.
I'm begining to think fruit, if you know what I mean

CCI mini-mags work well for me. As long as they have at least 1200fps at the muzzle. That seems to be the cut off for my SW22.

I'm having the same issue on mine I picked up at the beginning of the month. I've tried various different Ammo. All seemed to experience it once per magazine at least.

For those that sent it back to S&W how long did it take to get back?

My Victory took 3 weeks the first time it went back. Currently at S&W again for the same problem that wasnt fixed right on first trip. Hoping for a better result when it does return to me. Been appx 2 weeks now

Thanks. I'll try giving them a call. Have two big state steel matches in June and our local club's speed steel championship next month. So hopefully can get it back in time if I end up sending it out.

Alright just got done chatting with a rep, their current turnaround time is 4 weeks. They're sending me a label. Puts me a little close to the local club championship but I'll just run my rifle (M&P 15-22) for that one, took second overall with it yesterday out of 80 guns.

Just had same issues with my new victory not ejecting / stovepiping despite initial cleaning / lube. Disappointed as I have several Smith's and never had a problem, took a long time to find in my LGS. Customer service immediately sent return label, so I'm hopeful...

Shooterdms Welcome to the Forum, sorry to hear you are having problems with your new pistol. I am sure S&W will be able to find out what is causing it and correct it in very quick time for you. Pics of any new gun always are WELCOME on here as well.

Wink SW22 Victory

Bought SW22 Victory from BGS KY about 4/29/16 for my YL (young Lady). Cleaned and lubed, took out to the range first time 5/19/16. Was expecting joyful experience but instead got stovepipe every 2nd shot using Fed High Power (1260 fps) so changed to CCI minimag (1235 fps) same issues for 40-50 rounds total. Called S&W, they said shoot for another 200 rounds if the problem persists then call them again. Is this a rash of issues on 2016 SW22 Victory or know problem? Would appreciate any advise on the root cause, eg. is the Pin not bent enough or bent the wrong way or ???
Here's the solution: Bend the ejector pin into the case path by about 0.5 to 1.0 mm. Took it to the range and now the SW22 Victory will take any cartridge sub sonic or super sonic Federal or CCI - Problem solved

This is certainly the first thing to look at. My SW22 was actually sticky from all the shipping/protective gunk. ANY new gun should be properly cleaned and oiled before firing the first time. My Victory was worse (or better protected?) than usual. I have put around 500 rounds through it without a single problem. I have always been a Ruger MK shooter and have owned a number of them. The Victory shoots better than any stock MK I have owned and the ease of takedown makes it a no-brainer for comparison. I think I am on my way to loving this little gun. Good job SW.

This thread is very helpful, especially the photos showing precisely what to bend to improve ejection.

I had to send my Victory 22 back to S&W since the extractor disappeared along with the empty shell of my first round fired. When it returned from S&W it didn't run well. I detail stripped it and found excess oil on the bolt and in the trigger assembly. I hosed all the heavy oil out, sprayed a bit of Remoil in and the gun runs perfectly. I also Locktited the barrel hex screw since it wouldn't stay tight.

Gun now is totally reliable so far.

I tried Brownings 22RL ammo and had FTFs every other round. CCI and SK standard run fine. We should have a sticky of all ammo that works/doesnt work reliably.

I will never buy any more Winchester Super X 22lr after today's outing. Very erratic POI and many FTF in the Victory and my heavily modified 10/22. Some of the brass had domed bases after firing. No more for me. Other ammo shot fine in both guns, btw.

Default My take on the Browning ammo

I have shot the Browning ammo in my Victory, Compact22, and Mark III Target and have not had any issues. I have gone thru over 5 boxes so far. Local gun dealer is now out of stock.

Default No problems with Ammo

I have well over 1000 rounds through mine with several types and brands of Ammo with NO I mean 0 issues! Now that being said two days ago the hold down bolt snapped in half while firing it. The slide fell off and the bolt came out. There was no damage but I am not happy about the bolt braking in half for no reason. S&W sent me a new one already. But why did it break? It was not over tightened and it did not sheer off. It looked to be over hardened. S&W did not seem to be surprised by it?

I was thinking about getting one of these until I read this thread. Guess I'll just stick with my Ruger. :-(

I have had no issues with mine that were not ammo related.

No issues now with mine and she eats anything I feed her. It has become my favorite 22LR pistol to shoot. I have a Mark III coming this week the competition model and will see what I think then.

My Victory is Volquartsen modded also with their port/fluted barrel. I will give the Wolf match a try but this thing shoot all X's indoors with Norma TAC 22.

I've shot 10 different brands/types of ammo from my Victory. Wolf Match Target ranks #3 in accuracy behind SK Standard Plus and Norma TAC-22. A close 4th is Aguila SuperExtra Standard Velocity, and at less than 7½¢/round, it's a bargain. I've been paying about 12¢/round for Wolf MT, 11¢/round for SK Standard Plus and just less than 10¢/round for Norma TAC-22. All 4 run flawlessly.

My SW22 only had one fte and that was also when I noticed the barrel was loose.
I have to say I am not thrilled with this gun. My sight screw as well as the barrel screw come loose. I have bought two #61 O-rings but haven't installed them yet.
This is the first gun I have to carry a wrench to keep it shooting.

Apply some Vibra-Tite VC-3 to your takedown screw every 4th or 5th time you clean and that problem goes away. No need to keep up with extra parts like o-rings or lock washers. I use blue Loctite on my rear sight/rail screw like I do on every other firearm with a rail and/or optic.

I use Loctite 290 on most things I don't want to come loose. It's green, and a 'wicking medium grade threadlocker'. VC3 is what I use on the takedown screw.

Default sw22 victory issues

I have a similar problem as discussed above with ejection issues. I want to love this pistol but it seems like every magazine there is a FTE with stovepipe. Occasionally I have the bolt lock up where its a bear to open. With FTE I have had a few occasions where the ejector does not catch the round to eject at all and the round stays in the bore. The problem seems to be getting a little worse. I have about 750+ rounds through the gun. Cheap ammo makes it worse but even with federal match and CCI HV I have issues. Every 200 rounds I have to clean and lube the SW22 victory or it will lock up and have FTF, FTE issues.

I have taken the gun apart multiple times, cleaned everything, ran it wet or dry with oils, inspected the extractor which seems not fluid in movement (unlike my mark III which eats all ammo).

Any consensus on this issue? will likely send back to S&W for further investigations but I'm bummed.

At first my Victory was fine but slowly began to have ejection and feed issues. I experimented to rule out mags, ammo brands, load and maintenance. What finally resolved the cycling problems was the advice from njsarn in post #30. I slightly bent the ejector inward and if by magic all the problems went away. Using the suppressor doesn't affect the performance either.

I have had my Victory for about six months and have managed to run 2000 rounds through it. The majority of the ammo was CCI Minimag 36 grain but I have also run Federal, Blazer, Winchester and Remington in small quantities to see how they cycled. I have to say that I love everything about this gun, accuracy, weight, esthetics, ease of breakdown even the out of the box trigger. My bore is super smooth, almost looks polished. The takedown screw was tight but I used a socket set allen wrench instead of the factory supplied wrench and tightened to 30 inch pounds when I reassembled it. Have not had the screw loosen on me.
I have couple of Rugers that I really like as well, but neither performed were even close to the Victory out of the box. They are both great shooters now that I have redone triggers, tuned mags and polished internals.
Getting a threaded barrel Victory as soon as I can find one at my LGS. Thanks S&W.

The few times I had that problem I noticed the barrel screw had come loose. Tightened it up and no more problem with FTE. Till the next time the screw came loose which happened often. I added the O-rings but haven't shot it since then to see if that fixed the loose screw problem.
