Default CDI Sales 3rd Gens

Hello all,
Has anyone picked up a 3rd Gen from CDI Sales? They're well known for Israeli surplus CZs and Browning Hi-Powers, but it looks like they have a batch of 5903s, 6904s, and a few other models listed and they look to be in good shape.

Has anyone picked one up yet? If these are from the same source as the iAmmo 3rd Gens (barely used Israeli police issue), then they might be a good deal.

A quick search told me they have a great rep. I personally have not purchased anything from them.

They do have lots of listings on GB at some great price points...cdisales

Cole Distributing Inc. in Scottsville KY. Yes iv done some business with them. Got one thing to say about them they are some great people to do business with. Got my 5904, 5903, and 6906 from them, along with some other pistols, they have some great selection. Would not hesitate to get something from them again.

They used to sell on Gunbroker as ColeDist, now they are CDIsales apparently. Not sure why the change. I bought a couple guns from them under ColeDist and was really happy with the price, condition and overall transaction. They seemed liked good people (at the time anyway).

I've heard the same about them. Occasionally they get Pre-B CZ-75s and 5926s in stock, which is what makes me occasionally check their stock. The bumper crop of 6904s and 5903s got my attention though.

If anyone buys one, post pictures!

I've bought a ton of guns from them over the years(but never a 3rd gen)and have nothing but good to say. I check their listings at least once a week and sometimes several times a day when I catch them actively putting up new guns. One thing I would caution is that you check the descriptions and pictures carefully. They tend to parkerize slides when the guns come in in shabby shape. Personally, I can't stand guns that have been refinished. I'll take an honest beater before something that's been partially dolled up.

Actually, now that I think about in my first S&W auto came from Coles and it was a 3rd gen,.......a 915 for $228,........but that was right at about three years ago. I've also bought three 39-2's since then. I've been tempted on some of the more recent listings, but I'm more of a DAO guy.

S&W915
S&W39-2(3)
CZ83(6)
Beretta 951(3)
TZ75(2)
FEG Hi Power(2)
Beretta 92(first model)
Star BKM
Taurus 99
Walther P1(unissued)
SIG P226
Beretta 84BB

That's 23 pistols I can think of,......I'm sure I'm missing a few. No problems with any of them(they do offer free shipping on five or more!).

Don't know the company or the man, but was Googling because of this thread and ran across the story of Gary Cole's home invasion by a family member posing as a common criminal, and wearing body armor, who managed to shoot Gary twice in his home, when Gary returned fire with an entire magazine from an AK, killing his disguised cousin.

Sounds like 2012 was a rough year for him. Wow.

I looked at their auctions on GB; most of their stuff looked pretty rough to me. I was hoping to maybe stumble across a Browning HP in 40SW for less than an arm & leg. All the blued guns I looked at looked like they were spray canned black. There was a nice 5903, & if I didn't already have one I might be tempted.

I don't think you're going to find any cheap .40 S&W BHPs. I don't think many were sold because the US market was big on .40, and SAO automatics were out of favor by the time .40 S&W became popular. CDI's BHPs were a great deal in years past, with FNs selling for $400 or less, but his current prices are too much for their condition. I think the S&Ws are a good deal because they're cheap and in good shape, as are the Beretta 84s and CZ83s if they're your cup of tea.

Yeah, but if I don't look I definitely won't find one!

+10 to CDI. I've not purchased 20+ guns from them but close to a dozen. Great folks to do business with and the guns are usually better than described or the pictures show. Had a problem with a broken safety on a Star BS and Gary replaced it in a heartbeat with no questions asked. Great customer service and honest to a fault. He's my first choice on GB.

Another satisfied customer. I got a FEG Hi Power from him for around $210 a few years ago, and a CZ 75 this month for $300. He used to have a website, but that went away about the time of his attack. He seems to just use gunbroker and rely on word of mouth now.

He is very accurate and honest with his description, especially in contrast with other online sellers. What he calls a gun in good condition, J&G might call excellent. If he says fair, expect it to be in everyone else's good condition. If he says the bore is good or very good, it will be. If there are any cosmetic blemishes, he takes a big picture of them in sharp focus in bright lights.

I posted my pictures in another thread, of the CZ 75 I received. He called this gun "good", with a "very good" bore.

Note: this is a CZ 75 made in 1989, back then CZ parkerized their guns and then put an enamel finish on them. All the scratches and chips are just of the enamel, nothing goes through the parkerizing to the white. There was no rust or pitting. The grips are factory plastic, and worn, but intact.

All numbers match (frame, slide, barrel), and the only import marks I can find are hidden on the left hand side of the barrel.

Oh my god! I had no idea. I emailed him a bunch of times looking for specific stuff and he always got back to me.

I'm active on a couple of gun forums and this is the first I've head of it. How sad.

My sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and co-workers.
Rest in peace, Gary.

I had wondered why cdisales on GB was no more. I even emailed GB to get an answer but no reply from them. I had bought a 6906 LE trade in from him awhile back which is a nice gun. He always had a great selection of S & W's and other brands. Prices were in my budget range. Even though this is an older thread I thought I'd resurrect it and pass it along.

CDI had great items, I bought a ex Israeli police/security Berretta M84 and a Nickel S&W M39-2. Gary passed away in 2016 and a friend of his was running the business. The had a fire that devastated the business back in March of this year and Gary's heirs decided to liquidate instead of rebuilding, they were a great outfit, and will be missed.

What importer is that? I thought they were working off of existing inventory rather than still getting newly imported shipments.

Knew Gary personally for over 25 years. Great guy and a great businessman. Did some consulting for him informally. He never forgot to ask about my little boys who are now grown men. Miss him and his big smile.

Dwjimports

Who is DWJ Imports? We are a Veteran owned company - I am former U.S. Army Infantry. I am an 08 Importer with AECA registration and purchase items world wide. I have been working in the firearms world for 25+ years.

Many of you who buy surplus firearms already know me (Roger W.) as former CEO of CDI Sales / Cole Distributing - a large FFL importer that at the time of its closing (due to fire) had over 6,900 A+ average reviews. I pride myself in bringing the same level of excellent customer satisfaction to my own company DWJIMPORTS.

I purchased a FEG from them last week. The experience was comparable to those I had with CDI. Both experiences were very positive.

Prices are good, but the guns can be pretty filthy. One of the 5926's I picked up from them had rust on the frame and under the grips. Good thing is that they stamp their import marks on barrels, instead of the frame or slide - more importers need to do that.

So with these 3rd gens and the imports on the barrel does swapping the barrel violate any laws?
