Default Code on receiver of SW22

There is a square stamped on the receiver of my new SW22 that reminds me of QR Codes. It is a pattern of dots. I have not been able to find an explanation for the marking.

What is it?

It's a QR code that contains model / serial number for S&W internal tracking.
