Default My Very Expensive 10mm Magazine...

Got it on a GunBroker listing, which ended during the SuperBowl. Yea, crazy price I paid, but worth it to me due to the history...

S&W 10mm Mag 15 Round Authentic Magazine FBI ISSUE : Semi Auto Pistols at GunBroker.com

It feels just like a regular 9 rounder in regards to fit/function. Nothing jumps out at me with taking it apart, other than the yellow follower and longer spring. I upgraded all my magazines to the white follower, and might pick one up for this, but it looks to be good to go. There was a small amount of rust on the floorplate/lower part of the spring, but a little oil and rubbing got it looking ok.

There is an detent slightly higher than where the base would be on the standard magazines, to allow for the bevel on the magazine well. The detent is angled to lock it up... as it does not rock at all when inserted (loaded or empty).

No part numbers at all, with the exception of the ES on the front. But that is present in earlier standard magazines (I have some, but the ES1 was in the gun), as well. The ES1 marking is about when they started marking them "Accu-Guide," but I didn't check all of my ES1s to see if some were not marked.

I'm very happy I got the magazine, as it isn't something very common to come up for sale. Living in NJ, with a 15 round magazine limit, it is that much nicer for me to have. I don't know how many are in civilian ownership, but I might have seen two or three posted online before. Having it really makes me proud of my collection, as I didn't get a .40 conversion barrel (which I really wanted to mess around with). I like having unique stuff, and that definitely takes the cake.

Thank you!! You make me feel much, much better about paying $209.50 for a 3-inch M64 barrel-only off of GB ...

That is the only one I have ever seen anywhere online for sale, I have two of the 15 rounders, and know of one more (unless that one was it). I have only seen pictures of the 11 rounders. Nice score, I would not sell mine for that.

Yea, I think the seller has another, as shown in the pictures on GunBroker. Not a common thing... guess the FBI might have destroyed them when they went to .40 guns. S&W didn't sell them to civilians, and I've never seen info about other 10mm S&W agencies picking them up.

For a piece of history, I have no issue spending that. Seeing it linked on 10mm Firearms forum... kind of lit a fire under my butt to add it to the collection.

Thumbs... My Very Expensive 10mm Magazine...

I'm sure my Uplula will work. When I got to the end, it was tougher, but not impossible. Very similar to a 9 rounder.

I saw these listed. I bet you are the only one on the block who owns these. Very Cool. You know, for all those times when ten 10mm Buffalo Bore aint enough. And you just don't want to spend the extra $5 for a Glock 20.

I can understand... they are as rare, if not more, than hens teeth. If I had the disposable income to afford it and the interest in that area... why not??

I say congrats... sometimes the feeling you get from being secure in the knowledge that you have something that the vast majority of S&W 10mm pistols owners will never have, is worth the price. I myself would be looking for a proper FBI 1076 to go with it... that's what that magazine was intended for, so I'd be wanting to pair the two up.

I watch that particular sellers guns on GB because he always has scarce, in demand beautiful pieces. When I saw that mag & the price I knew it must be rare. Good for you that you got something you wanted. By the way that seller is a good guy to do business with also I'm sure you found that out.

Now I don't feel so bad about what I've had to pay for some rare & "pre-ban" 3rd Gen magazines.

LOL, oddly enough I got a "used" Glock 20C for less than that price - actually I think the gun plus 2 extra mags and a replacement case all came in right around your "spend the extra $5" price.

Not at all a ding on the OP, just a funny coincidence. I'd grab a 15 rd S&W 10mm mag in a heartbeat - but honestly I'm not collector enough to pay *that* price for one. Definitely made of pure Unobtanium, and a heck of a score for the OP!!!! Nice work.

Never knew they did ANY hi caps for the 1000 series!

I have issues with what they want for NORMAL 1000 series mags...much less for an 11 or 15 rd model.

Definitely a good guy. He has a few S&W revolvers up, currently.

No problem on the comments (I'm a big boy My Very Expensive 10mm Magazine...), I didn't shell out that money for anyone else but myself. Posted pictures because it is a nice addition to my collection, and isn't as common of a magazine. I was sure people would say I'm crazy, and considering there was still some room to my maximum bid, maybe I am. But hey, I don't mind being crazy with a FBI 15 rounder in my loadout. My Very Expensive 10mm Magazine...

In regards to the Glock 20, really not interested. I have one 10mm, which I love (pictured 1006). I have a Glock 30S, which is my off duty gun. A Glock 20, or even a 40, just isn't something I'd have a use for... or better said, another use for. My 1006 is there to shoot 10mm through... and does a pretty good job as such.

Same view on the 9 rounders...

When I got into my 1006 (tail end of 2008), I got 10 or so magazines. Most were in the $40 range, but did have to search out deals. Now, I'm shocked at what the prices are.

That 15 rounder, definitely is an exception for me. With such a small number in circulation, WORTH IT! My Very Expensive 10mm Magazine...

If it were an 11 rounder, I'd likely have passed on it. Don't get me wrong, don't see those much either, but NJ's magazine limit isn't 11 rounds.

Two very different guns for sure. My 1006 is far more pleasant to shoot (especially with the Hogue's like OP's) - though the G20C got better when I swapped in a Wolff 20lb recoil spring & Wolff guide rod. Even then, the Glock is "snappier" and harder to shoot well.

One excuse for the 1006 was it could be my backpacking bear gun - but holsters are an issue. Truthfully the G20C was just a "couldn't pass up" price - LNIB still with original "Glock grease" prominently visible on rails etc. I got holsters off Amazon and BNIB spare magazines for <$25... Plus if it's ever lost while backpacking, it is, to quote Mas Ayoob "Just a godd*mn Glock!"

Oh yeah, a set of TFX sights were ~$100.

Hey, if anyone is interested, Smith & Wesson got in some more magazine butt plate catch assembly. They send me a bunch... FREE !! So, if you want to make a 10mm mag from parts, you'll probably want to get some of those.

The ONLY Glock I own is a G20-SF, because it did better than
a Colt Delta Elite in handling recoil and had more capacity...
in fact, I use the +2 extensions for 17 per mag
Added a 9" Lone Wolf barrel to decimate the local hog population

The only other I'd consider would be the G40 (10mm Longslide)
or a G41 longslide set up for .460 Rowland

Meanwhile, I'm hoping to find a reasonably priced 10xx eventually
