Default 6904 for $200

A friend of mine is offering up a 6904 square trigger guard, with 4 mags for $200. I'm no fan of black, or blue, semi-auto's at all, Colt's the exception....but the price seems good.
Also has S&W PPK's for $400, which I really don't need.

Can't let TTSH see this one, he'll be ragging me.

Sounds like a steal to me if in decent shape. Ya can always buy and resell at those prices. PPKs are a nice conceal piece.

If you don't buy that for $200 the ghost of Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson swill rise and haunt you 'til the end of days. And you would deserve it!

Horace and Dan could not care less abour Carl's PPK. So feel free to pass on that one.

Nope! Nope! Nope!

I've learned my lesson! Lots of members of Team 3rd Gen LOVE the "used & abused" look.

And, after all, who among us doesn't want a half-painted "used & abused" Model 6904 for $260-$270?

BTW, did you add in frame stripping, pre-paint prep and reassembly? That cost more around here than the damn paint job!

p.s., too bad for me... I can't import.

A functioning, slightly worn S & W metal frame 9 mm with four magazines for $200? I think you would have to dislike these quite a bit to pass at that price.

I've run into quite a few good deals lately but passed on them for a day or two hoping someone else would grab them. Most of the time it works.

I'm really trying to downsize my collection.

I wonder how much Earl Scheib would charge?

LOL!!! Nothing against the "used & abused" look if that's what a person wants. The price is certainly right.

But spending money to paint it? It seems to defeat the whole "used & abused" look thang AND for the added cost to prep & paint the frame you can probably find a "not so used & abused" one for about the same total out-of-pocket cost.

The interesting part for me is that it looks exactly like that transitional 4690 that I found at the last show that was marked down to $600+Tax. Condition isn't the same, of course, but otherwise it's identical.

Makes me wonder about the wisdom of me going after it hard at the next show.

If it goes BANG when you pull the trigger, for $200 I would NOT think twice.

Snag that 69, test fire the PPK before you buy. Some of the S&W PPKs weren't too reliable.
If nothing else, that 69 could be an emergency trunk gun.

You all making me think twice about the LNIB Smith M59 I passed on yesterday at my favorite local pawn shop. I already have it's twin in my collection and don't need two of them. Still, future value and resale might be a factor. I could have had it right at $370. Maybe next week if it's still there.

Nope I've done 2 in the last 2 years........ $70 for the whole sha-bang.

3G anodized blue frames just don't hold up well if open carried.........

Now I have a reverse two-tone 6904 and 915 ..... these two are my.... "thank (you know who) I don't have to carry a Block" hard duty/truck guns.

I'm going to go against the flow on this one. If you are having to think about it, you don't really need or want it.
I'm just trying to be the voice of reason here.
Throwing $200 at a gun "just because" it's inexpensive is seldom a great idea.Just my humble opinion.......

Best,
Charles

P.S.,
What's your friend's phone number ?

Ira, we hang out in the same 'hood

The seller is a good friend of mine, he has a bunch of other "stuff" for sale too.
I'm trying to pry a 3 inch 629 out of his fingers.

Now he has 5 mags with the 6904.

Someone asked, he has no interest in shipping, sorry.

OK, so he had a buyer, but the buyer backed out. It must have been a sign. He called me and asked me again, so I decided to buy it, 5 mags with the gun.
He's going on a trip for a week or so, I won't be able to pick it up right away.

I see.
Dangle it in front of me, make me hunt it down, pull the rug out from under my feet and tell me it's sold.

So, any Walther guys out here, 2 mags a holster and a S&W Walther 380. For an interested friend, any idea on value, he wants $400. Didn't the S&W guns have some issues?

I think the early S&W Walther's 2002-2009 had a recall for the safety where it could fire when the decocker was used.
They also have some "quality control" issues, the frame has some sharp (square) edges, the feed ramps have been known to have ruff machine marks and some issues with the riffling.

I just prefer the feel of a double stack pistol, like say......... a 6904.6904 for 0

Great news! Sell all the magazines and you have a $75 gun .

Forgot to remove it when you did your wash, heh? That happened to me once too, although not with a 3rd Gen.

Just kidding, of course. Methinks that you paid for the mags and got the gun for free.

Imma make this simple for you...
You are in New Yuck...bastion of unfriendly-to-guns politicians.
You have the opportunity to get a nice 3rd gen S&W at low cost.
Strike while the iron is hot...because if Killary gets in,
guns will be one of her first targets...
and you can forget ever getting more other than black market...
safe to say the prices will be exorbitant...

Those front end load machines spin a lot faster that the top loaders.
