Default SW22 Victory/Burris FastFire III Question

I'm waiting on my delivery of my Victory late this week or early next and have pretty much settled on a Burris FastFire III for it. My question for those who have one in hand is this. Does it look like I could remove the rear sight, for-go screwing the Picatinny rail on, and just get the top of the receiver tapped for a direct to gun mount of the Burris Red Dot? It would sure be a lot cleaner if that is possible. Thanks in advance for any input. Scott

Since no one else has responded to your question I will. The S&W Victory 22 has two separate rear sight assemblies. One has the notch fiber optic sight on it. Another which comes with the gun is a complete replacement of the rear sight assembly with a Picatinny rail which will accept your Burris. Removal of one screw enables the switch.

I just remover my scope and put the Fast Fire on this afternoon. I don't think I would have it mounted directly to the slide. Don

I actually got to hold and have a good look at a Victory this afternoon at Bullseye sports here in London. Defintely has a nice feel to it and appearance as well. Good thing I already own a 41 and 46 or I probably would have jumped all over it on the spot. Our Canadian prices are higher with it being at $569.00 in Canadian dollars. WE always get shafted which is nothing new to us up here.

I shot mine today with the Fastfire III after removing the scope last night. I was not really happy with the fastfire III with the 3 MOA dot. At the max of 20yds at the indoor range it just covered to much area on the target. By going with the lowest brightness setting it was better and I was able to hold .5" groups off sandbags. I like the way the gun shoots and may go with a Match Dot II that I like on my Pro 9L. Don

I also have the fast fire III on my victory. Works great with the rail included.
