Default Hitting Very Low With 6906

I've owned a bunch of 3rd gen's over the years. Just got an early model 6906 from Standard Law in Ohio. Cop trade in. 1989 vintage. Took it shooting today. Did not shoot as well as I have in the past.

I shoot at a paper plate at 15 yards. Normally shred the middle of it with anything I shoot. But in order for me to even get on the paper, I had to hold at the top center. Like almost above the plate. And even then the rounds were hitting just over the bottom.

I was shooting my handloads. 124 grain fmj over IMR 7625. I shoot my Ruger LC9-S better with the same ammo.

What could I be doing wrong?

If it shoots that low and you like the pistol enough to put some money into it, I believe Novak can help. Their site suggests a doing the sights over with their sights set up to get POI at POA.
If you send a target showing the POI at a certain range you just send in the slide. Or send the pistol.
I reviewed this info a couple years ago so hopefully this service is still available.
Good luck getting it on target.

I like the pistol very much, but if I'm gonna spring for new sights wouldn't trijicon or some other low light sight be a better choice? Maybe something adjustable? Or are the sight options for the older 3rd gen pistols more limited than newer 3rd gen's?

The pre-Novak fixed blade rear sight on your pistol limits the drop-in sight options to Trijicons - other sights will require machining.

Did you change the recoil spring? It can make a difference.

Took the gun out again with a B27 silhouette target. Much better. I seem to be shooting a bit left, but elevation was much better. Maybe I just needed a better aiming point. At 10 yards they were all in one hole. 15 yards they opened up but still kill zone. 25 yards were much wider spread, but I'm not shooting an intruder at 25 yards. I'm happy for now but will get better.
