New to me 3906
I found this in my LGS traded in by a LEO. I found little info about the pistol but decided then and there to bring it home. The DA/SA is a bit heavy. It looks like it has been shot very little but shows a bit of holster wear. Overall, I really like it. 🤓

The 3906 and the 3904 were made in 1988 to 1990. They are not the easiest pistols to find and it looks like you have a good one. there were three types of sights used on them the adjustable style like you have was used all three years . The early guns had a S&W fixed sight and the latter guns had a Novak style. My gun is a 3904 blued with a alloy frame with a Novak sight that I will never sell. Even though I don't need another pistol if I found one like yours I would buy it.
I think dropping the full sized single stack was a bad marketing decision by S&W but at the time double stacks were all the rage. I can conceal my 3904 almost as well as my 3913. Good luck with a great gun

I've one of the older ones with the rounded rear Smith fixed sight.....Bought it new long ago.....Much better looking gun than those
"pregnant" looking 5906's.

Congrats on the 3906 find. Great pistol, I have one myself. My grandson shot it this weekend and it's now his favorite 9mm. You got a great one there.

Just bought a new 9MM Shield and thought about selling my 3906, When I got home and held it in my hand decided to keep it. I was all the cardboard with the light weight Shield , heavy 3Rd Gen is nice and steady. Good Luck with your pistol and check with Midway for extra Mags

Here's my 3906. I purchased it off this forum some time ago. I don't remember from whom. The trigger guard has been rounded, it has been converted as a decocker only and has a flush hammer. Nearly the perfect weapon.

The problem was that full size double stacks were all the rage and the compacts filled the niche for easily concealable 9mm. That left the 3904/06 with no niche to fill.
My 3904 was beautiful and a dream to fire. The problem was that it just sat in my safe all the time. I finally decided to sell it and found a 3rd Gen aficionado who brought all of his to the range frequently. I was happy, he was happy. Then I found a railed 3913TSW and I was really happy.

The 3906 was the first pistol I owned. If i remember correctly I purchased it new in 1990. I still have it and it is a pretty good shooter. Did a little work on it, springs and polishing. Nice gun.
