SW22
Picked up my new SW22 Thursday. Friday I cleaned it and went to the range. Love the gun. 100 rounds, zero problems. Now the question...why does the instruction manual repeatedly mention to check for a "protruding firing pin"? Is there a known problem with that issue?
Thanks, Sam.

It is a rather ominous warning. How many of you check the firing pin every time your firearm leaves your hand, is cleaned, handed to another person, transported or stored?

All you don't need is a firing pin to slip forward and set off the chambered round when you close the slide is probably why I would think. Silly accidents always happen when you least expect them to. None of us want to accidentely shoot someone else over a firing pin failure to stay put do we?

Looks like another lawyer induced warning. Instruction manuals are 50% warnings about things that should be self evident to anyone with an IQ over 70, and it's hard to believe those with IQ's below that point can read, let alone understand all those warnings. Another sign of the CYA times.

I don't mind the warnings in the user manual, but I hate them stamped on the barrel! I think that started as a result of a lawsuit against Ruger quite some time ago. Messing up a beautiful handgun because some idiot went and did something stupid!

Yes, it is surprising Ruger doesn't have "Point in safe direction" engraved on the end of their barrels.
